Sorry for being absent quite a bit lately. But, a couple of the guys at Prime started a company board and I've been pretty busy over there.

The wife and I have actually been pretty busy....even for January. Been back and forth between Phoenix, Romulus, Jersey, Romulus, MA (Yuk)...paid good tho!....now we're sitting in NC waiting to get loaded to Oakland, CA. Gotta get back out to Cali....Mama is missing it out there! NOT! She is getting better and better about remembering where the good freight is and where we don't wanna go. And she's getting a little lippy too! Might have to calm her down pretty soon.

That's where your wrong Notarps....Success Leasing(Prime's Leasing Partner) does have a Lease Purchase.....It's called the ACE II Lease..... They don't advertise it, but it is available to Operators after they have completed at least one lease. There is a down-payment requirement....the longer you have been at Prime, the lower the down-payment.... and you have the option of either a 3 or 4 year payment plan. You can also choose to either have a balloon at the end(Lower Payments) or to pay it off in the stated amount of time(Higher Payments). I know one driver that paid for his truck in 3 years....still had 150K left on his warranty and leased his truck back on the day he got his title.....and as long as he keeps up his maintenance....he will be able to keep it there until he decides to get rid of it....See, Prime will let their former Lease Operators keep their trucks there for several years because they know they(the trucks) won't fall down under a load....But, they won't take someone in off the street with and older unit because they don't know the trucks(or Ops) history.

Yea wow, I noticed that after I asked. I was a contractor for 20 years and I couldn't ask for a better paid vacation than to be a truck driver. Do you work for Prime and if not then maybe that is why it is a nightmare...lol...or maybe 2 grand is less than you are used to making per week and I got into it to late to know that you guys used to make 3-5 grand (take home) per week. Wish I drove during those days.

Thanks for a Great Thread and Great Info !!:biggrin_25520:

I have never driven for prime. I know of their issues in the past from talking with drivers. Leases have always been a big risk that favors the lease co. There are a couple decent leases available now, but still a risk. I always dreamed of driving a truck. Most kids want to be firemen, cop, etc growing up. My dream from the earliest I can remember was to be a trucker. When I was little I had posters of COE's and long hoods. Models, etc. I can say that at least I did do and am living my dream. The nightmare can be the cost of being out there. One day you look back and see how much you really missed being out there.

I can honestly say that out of the hundreds of Prime drivers that I have ever talked to, only 2 did not say that they would never leave Prime and I understood why after I had been here not very long. If there is a better company then I do not want to take the chance to find out where and risk loosing out on this. You are right about the things that you miss but I will be buying my own fleet in the next couple of years for that very reason. Grandbaby was born in Nov. and I miss him and my dogs. But I never stay still. Im always moving up the ladder. Not on purpose but it is in my nature to succeed. My cut is always at least half full.
