I had assumed that the info that I gave to you on the other thread for Prime would have been enough. It was detailed and is all a person can give you without writing a manual or something

Hey Nailer....sorry I haven't been around here much. Some of the Prime drivers started their own board and I've been over there answering Training questions a lot! I'm glad that my posts have helped you make your decision. I know if you follow the plan you will be successful. They really do try to help everybody succeed. Hope to see you in Springfield.

I'm pretty sure that folks getting their CDLs at prime start with the CDL class to get your permit, followed by mastering basic skills on the training pad, followed by 10,000 miles on the road with a CDL instructor. 10k miles is going to take somewhere in the neighborhood of a month.

Once you take your driving test and get your CDL, the 10k miles will be credited towards your advancement to A-seat transition - another 50k miles to get there, and then another 20k miles as a solo driver. Sounds like a lot? You get to solo qualification in about 3-4 months after obtaining your CDL, all the while you're starting to make some reasonable money. You can Google "Prime Inc." for the company website, and look at the driver qualification and training pages for the straight skinny on this. Contacting a recruiter for more information is a good idea too... they'll play straight with you (they did with me), and can do a better job at answering your questions than we might be able to do.

I know many people come down hard about Prime, but understand may are people who failed there or do not have a clue and offer a opinion that they know nothing about.
If the only bill you have is a cell phone bill, I would go for it. The key is managing your money, stay out of casinos, do not pull advances. Take enough money with you. Learn from drivers that have time there and I know many think is cool but do not spend alot putting chrome on the truck. It will not make you any more money
If you go, Good Luck and look at as a business
Just remember this time of year it is slow everywhere for freight

Care to elaborate on those figures with total miles traveled for each trip or by the pay week?

Sounds like gross settlements to me..Go back and tell us what your gross mileage pay is and what you mileage expences are?? What do you have left after that?? Thats what we really want to know!! Make sure you include deadhead as well, those miles arent free..
