Part of it is a bonus but the rest is a refund so to speak. The good news is that Prime has to be one of the only companies that you will not go in the hole unless you cause it and you will make great checks and still get all of that $$$ back at the end. The only way that I would ever leave would be when I start my own in the next 3 years. The great thing is that I do not foresee even being able to say a bad word about them in whole even if there may be things here and there that I might disagree with. But that will happen anywhere, just less here than other places. :biggrin_25519:

It is mostly the same as a maintenance fund that you have to pay in so that if the truck needs new tires or there are overage miles, you have to make up for the depreciation which you make weekly anyways if you are driving those extra miles. Its also a walk away lease. My decisions are always based on educated though so I made sure that I checked in on all of this before I went to Prime. People should make sure that the company that they go to fits their life and is not just the best company. Even though Prime is at the least, one of the very best for OTR, you may want to be home every weekend and it will not be the best for you. Dont judge the bonus until you see the weekly checks:biggrin_25519: If you had a CD that could not be cashed for 3 years but it was accumulating $$$ during those 3 years and you still were making plenty of bank weekly, then you would still be glad to cash it in and it would feel like a true bonus regardless

I wasn't knocking prime. I just disagree with calling it bonus. maintenance fund is good though. I have known a few prime drivers and I know you can make money over there. It's just not for the faint of heart. but I don't think any owner op situation is for the faint of heart. If I had a desire to pull refer again I'd probably look into them. I just wish they were like they were in the old days and had more trucks than just the F word ones

Prime does not keep trucks any older that 4 years old because the want the warranty to cover you tail. All of the things that you mentioned are prorated as you suggested. A way to avoid some of your concerns is to get into an older truck that only has 1 year on the lease left. Write down every little tiny detail of damage that is on the truck so that it is never your fault for it. You will get a smaller refund/bonus back but it still will be abut 1/3 of the 3 year bonus. Also this will give you the ability to take a straight 2 weeks off if you want to at the end without a payment, then you can start your new lease after. ALWAYS bare in mind that Prime does not lease you these trucks! It is a lease company that we have a contract with so do not blame Prime for any problems that you have with the lease

I agree about the trucks. But mine runs pretty good for now and I consider it a tool and not a toy. I know you were not knocking prime. It was a figure of speech. It is not for the faint of heart or even for those that do not want to run a business, because it is just that, a business

Glad to hear it bud.:biggrin_25525:If you ever need any couching or advice then look no further than here to get it. Ive done a lot of training here on this sight so you may want to go through my posts by clicking on my name and seeing what others have asked and the answers they have received. First thing to say is to have a real business plan before you sign the lease so that when you sit down with the DM you can tell him what you have for a plan and what you expect out of him or her. Tell them that you respect if they dont have the ability to do what you need but if you dont see eye to eye with the understanding that if they do not come through for you then they got to go
