Well.....we take time off. Sometimes we take off while we are out on the road. We'll find a place that we like and call in and tell them to put us off.....get a motel....and kick back and see th sights. But, for us....it's about spending our time together.

Good job of explaining your ability to log 4200 miles LEGALLY. I too must log legal against the QC, leased to Crete, and if I do long trips out west and back, 4200 miles is not hard to do legal. However, I make more money by running laods betwenn 500-1200 per trip, so I generally run 3000-3500 mpw. Crete also has a good customer base with about 50% d/h, and the customers that live ld/unld are ussually done within 2hrs. This all translates into being able to keep the wheels rolling.

Ok, I got it. Two people are in the truck. So 4000 miles is easily doable. After clearing this up I have to say that they are really short on miles for two drivers, that is if the second person really is driving full time. I'm starting to get the picture on this husband and wife team driving thing if you know what I mean. :biggrin_255:

I could get a girlfriend and throw her on the truck and she could be a team driver. The truck could get more miles. But this would not be the same as two guys trying to make a living. Right? They would have to do 5-6000 miles a week.

When you say you live right on I 40 how close are you and how close is close. I live 15 miles from I 40. Is this close.

The week I did over 4K....I was alone....Momma was home on the front porch swingin' with our new Grandbaby!

Teams will usually get between 4500-6000 miles a week. Some weeks will be less....but, that doesn't necessarily mean the money will be any less. Remember....we work on %....not miles.

We live about 6 miles off the interstate.......So, we don't have to go very far at all.

Well...I gotta say......Last week (ending 6/23) was our first FULL week running together since the end of April.....And man was it good! We are starting to get back into our groove and everything is clicking. We banked $3K after expenses and stand to do almost as good this week....we may miss it by a little.....BUT this load back out to Cali we are gonna do our dreaded 60mph test. We've talked about it....but, 63mph has seemed like it would kill us.....But, we finally got used to 63....And if my results today on our 177mi DH are any clue...We usually average in the high 7's to mid 8's running empty at 63.....today I got 9.6 running 60....I think we might get better than 7mpg....that will make the $3K A LOT easier!!

Our load over this way (NC) was a 43K+ load of Lemons/Oranges that we got just east of Fresno....and we averaged 6.62mpg with it...mostly at 63mph....last day we decided to try 60mph and our MPG's rose steadily until the end of the trip......and we're running the southern route back to LA with 39K+. Remember....If you see us....Wave!

Well....this past week wasn't quite like the week before......everything was going great.....got out to the edge of AZ....headed across I-10 to LA....and Turbo Boost won't pick up.....we limped to Willcox T/A and called in. Told the guy in Road Assist that there was a FL shop right across the street.....Load had to be in LA by 0600 next morning.....Sooooo, they got another team that was about 30 min behind us to come by and get our trailer.....and leave theirs.....they had an 1100 appt at the same place as us.....Then a couple hours later another team came and got that trailer and left us holding a Nogales, AZ load....:biggrin_25513: That hurt..... Next morning....go to FL......check it out.....Hose closest to Turbo has a crack in it on the bottom side.....couldn't see it. Mech says...."Hmmm these things usually blow up like a bomb".... So, we have 2 new Turbo hoses put on.....good to go!!
Get almost to Benson, AZ......Coughin'....and Buckin'.....No Turbo Boost unless the thing is floored.....Stop and call in....."Can you get to Tucson?".....We'll try! So...once I got over the hill......it was HAMMER TIME!!! Sometimes it just feels good to mash that motor.....until you get the fuel bill anyway.... :biggrin_2556: Get to the Detroit shop.......after an hour or so.....You got a bad EGR......Stuck shut. They also look at the turbo....and several other goodies.....Thank goodness for the WARRANTY!!! Bill would have been over $2000......we get out for $108 (My DOT inspection was up.....so I had them Inspect it).....In the meantime....they send a guy to pick up the Nogales..... and bring us an empty.....No truck stops(That we use) anywhere near.....so, after we get finished.....we're off to the Motel for the night.....WoooHooo!!! Pizza and HBO!!
Next morning we get this load......15150#'s from Tempe, AZ to Duluth, GA 1920 total miles.....$3115....$1.62 mi. We've averaged 8.25 mpg so far with 200 miles left. Looks like 60mph is a good place for us.
We were averaging 7.08mpg with 40K on on the trip out to LA before we broke down....I can live with that!!

WOW! Time flies if you don't check in..... We've been running East/West A LOT! The runs are good...and the pay is better!! We finally got a run up north and boy.....what a different world... We ran a load from Riverside, CA to Johnstown, NY! Great run! Including the DeadHead from Phoenix.....the Mileage came out to 3049 paid miles at $1.91 mi!!! We netted $1.09 mi.....before fuel discounts were applied....so, it actually came out better than that! :biggrin_25525: The load back out wasn't so smiley....Budweiser from the Syracuse area....back to Phoenix. But, we dropped it in Springfield, MO at the yard....Ended up having to have the Turbo...and the Exhaust Cooler replaced.......not too bad though....it was warranty.....Had the Tri-Pak serviced while we were at the Freightliner shop and took off the next evening to SC! Got to spend the day with my wife's Grand-Baby!!!! Been a whirlwind ever since...... We delivered a day early in SC.....and are currently on our 5th load of the week.....Whew! Getting ready to get on the shuttle to the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, CA......they are supposed to have a KILLER Buffet! And, I'm hungry! We deliver in Riverside tomorrow.....then, I'm sure we'll be back on more Wal-Mart Produce.......I love this stuff.....runs pretty light.....and pays GOOD!! You guys and gals have fun......WE ARE!!!:biggrin_25522:

Didn't even touch a Wal-Mart last week.....well, part of the reason was I was sick.....some kind of Tummy bug....and when you have a tummy like mine...LOOK OUT! :biggrin_2552: Did start the week out in CA. Took a load up to Denver.....heavy....but, we still averaged over 6mpgs! Then off to NE for dead cows.....over to Chicago area. From there....candy to GA. Had to re-power a load that some guy took from N.Central IL to Atlanta via. Cincinnatti....on down to south GA. Good thing is they paid us for the DH miles back to Kennesaw, GA at $1.53mi......then we had this load that brought us out to L.A.......All told.....4338 mi(with 2 days laying around being puny) and $6785 for $1.56 average for the week. Sure looks better when the FSC is higher......But, the profit still works out!!! Minus fuel ($3090.89-discounts) and fixed costs and we'll be right about $2800 to the house for 5 days.....not too shabby. :biggrin_255:
