Probably a lot of em. I don't know why anyone would prevent a truckstop from allowing overnight parking. Wouldn't it be better to have trucks parked over night, than leaving every couple hours? :)

I once was in one of those 2 hour truck stops with a wide load and was told to move by the staff. I told them fine, But I needed a police escort. this was on wed of the thanksgiving weekend and I couldn't move until Monday morning. I left Monday morning.:biggrin_25522::biggrin_2559:

Why did you park without asking at such a place in such a situation? Seems like you forgot your 7 P's? Prior Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance?

    Wow, Phroziac is my hero.
He calls every truck stop that he plans to stop at while while doing his planning, to make sure that they have overnight parking. Now that is some good planning.
I say that he calls them, simply because none of the truck stop guides say if the parking is only short term, only if it is available and the size of the lot.

    Ok, sarcasm over.
This happens at times when you are going to an area that you are not totally familiar with. Nobody knows every truckstop in every town in the US. They open and close too much to know them all.
So we have to use guides to tell us the info on them. From the pocket guide that shows only lot size, to the larger books that will tell you a little more about the lot.
The vast majority of the places with short term parking do not mind people taking brakes at them. A few do, and they are governed by both local ordnance most of the time. And even that ordinance is governed by money, since people do not spend money while sleeping.

The location I park my truck on the weekends has a large sign saying that it has 2 hour parking unless you purchase 50 gal+ in fuel. Then it is a max of 13 hours on lot.
But the people that work there will never enforce it. Drivers that park at the lot for the weekend all sign in the parking book so that they have our number if there is an issue. I have parked there for 3 days straight.

You mean you don't drive till your 11 is at 0 everyday? Amateur learn to plan and know every truck stop so you know you can stop at that one right when your clock hits zero. GEEZ what are they teaching these youngins these days. :biggrin_25523:
