thanks for the replies. giving some serious thought to going back to doing what I enjoy. haven't driven a truck in just over 10 years now, and even that was only part time. last time driving for real was 25 years ago. I'm sure much has changed.
too many years driving a desk, too much volatility in this deal.
Just wanted to make sure I would still have time for me, if I choose to go back. Funny when I was younger I only wanted to drive, no other hobbies really. now days I work to pay for all my fun. LOL have to make sure I still get to have some fun.

I'm sure the first 12 months will be with a mega, if nothing else because it will give me time to see what else is out there.

We accrue time off at 2 days per 5 worked, so all drivers can be home every week for 2 days or every other weekend for 4 days, or take a week off every month.

We're good earners in the truck so they've never had a peep to say about time off. Had 6 weeks off this year on top of regular weekends.

sure they do especially if youre a hard runner。your dispatcher wont have a problem with it。thats like an extra bonus for all the hard work you do。

this is true, about running hard. i used to do Long haul, not his OTR crap they tried cleaning it with, and i ran hard, never wanting to go home for at least 4 weeks at a time. so when i had time off, i asked for a couple of extra days, (usually 4 days in total, and i got them).

i'd keep in contact with my 2 dispatchers however, (nightly), and they held me to my time off.

which i appreciated, but i was getting bored sitting at home..lol.....i wanted to run.

then the next time again, i'd ask for an extra day or so, got'em..............i was a confused child.

that's funny, I just told my mgr that I had applied for a different design job. his face blanked. than I told him not to worry I turned it down. ah happy face. forgot to mention to him the reason I turned it down is because it might be time for me to go drive instead of sitting at a desk..................that will be a big not happy face when he finds out. LOL few months to go yet.
doesn't matter really they are shutting us down anyway. moving to Canada.
