hi there
i am new to this forum, i have question for u guys, i would like to know whether DOT officer enter the time at which a truck enter the scale.
because my friend told me that these day DOT is punching the time so that could trap the driver who do speeding and make false logs.
i dont make false logs but do speeding some time, specially when i carry rush load.
i will appreciate ur replies

i would highly dought that they would log you in and out of the scales....for one how hard would it be to get the correct info and truck/trailer #'s? but hey im not dot so i cant say for sure
prepass might be anouther story as they already have all the truck related info...and im pretty sure my log dept. said she does occasionly check my log against reciets and such, i think she mentioned using the prepass thing , but im not sure. might have been ezpass for tolls...i just ty to make sure it all matches up and am close to the speed limit on my logs -
PrePass my friend...and yes they (some) are starting to use it.
They aren't looking at "other" states. Just their own. Clocking you between the scales. -
WY, CO, and OR post the time in their computers when you clear a scale. And its available to the rest of that state's chicken houses.
I learned the hard way early in my driving career to NEVER EVER NEVER EVER claim line three when I was actually on line 2 going thru a chicken house.

I have PrePass in my truck and when I started my subscription, that was one of my major questions, does the PrePass log what time you come through the weigh station and they told me absolutely NOT! It does not tell the time, your speed, or anything other than your company information. If you don't believe me, call them up.

They told me the same thing - but I don't think I'm buying it. Every month I get a little paper sales pitch describing all prepass has done for me, with a lot of info (much of which I can't remember now) including exactly how many minutes I've saved by having them.
I guess I'm and old sceptic, but I'd bet the church till they also know WHEN that beeper goes off - and if THEY know - any judge, for any reason he feels is important, can order them to give it up. And it's hard for me to see how they'ed have much of an excuse to refuse. -
If their camera focuses on your base plate and "reads" the number into a computer file, they are able to do many things with it. Police cars have cameras that read license numbers and instantly compare the numbers with stolen cars, fugitives, etc.

So you would log line 2 instead of 3 going through a scale? I think you meant that the other way, or I am just being blonde tonight?
If you are "stopped" at a scale that would be line 4, if you was driving through the scale, that would be line 3. I would not be logging line 2?? lmao! Biggest red flag is that one
I believe you meant to say the opposite, but I want to make sure it is clear

Log deparmtnents probably are not auditing the pre-pass reciepts, although some might and can. I will warn all of you though, DOT comes in to do an audit they can pull them receipts so you should make sure you are logging it correctly.
Anytime you are pulled over by an officer is recorded and the company is aware of who was pulled over, even if you was a good boy/girl. Don't hide them behind your back cause they should know! -
You might be right.
I haven't used a log sheet in about 4 months. I started counting from the wrong side of the paper.
Once I was way over hours but still driving. I went thru a WY chicken house when I claimed that I was sleeping in SLC. When I got to the east side of WY and pulled into another scale and they pulled up the time I cleared the west side of the state and compared it to the log sheet I was screwed.
