Well one can avoid Rhode Island, it isn't much to avoid. I mean that toll can't possibly cost that much. Drivers really should avoid Pennsylvania. That's the toll that eats you alive.

The toll isn’t so much the issue,it’s the fact that they’re only tolling trucks. I have no problem with a tolling as long as it’s used to charge EVERYONE that uses the road, bridge, etc.
And Rhode Island is not doing that, that’s why a federal judge ordered those toll gantries deactivated the first time this went to court!
The state is using trucks as their personal piggy bank to fund the roads!

I’m surprised somebody hasn’t yet gotten the idea to put tolls on 80.

They have they tried it failed….therefore the constant toll increases on the turnpike
Gov Ed Rendell balanced the budget on an imaginary tolling of I80:eek:
Since then the turnpike commission has been charged with making up the shortfall

MACK E-6 and 25(2)+2 Thank this.

And PA had it figured to toll trucks going across the state and not local. I can't recall the specifics, other than it was to be a boon for the state while costing mostly the cross-state traffic the largest share. Wasn't allowed as the feds largely had financed building the road in the first place.

Old thread I know but, does anyone know if RI started tolling again and if so. How much for 5 axle. Trying to put together a rate for a 2 boat trip to Nantucket.

They hadn’t as of last week of February…I’m told they’re still trying to figure out how
If it helps…the court ruled in concluding the lawsuit the tolls May Not Exceed $20 per trip
Total and can only be charged once a day

    Luwi67 Thanks this.
