I keep forgetting to look into it but I want to find out the darkest we can legally go and have it put on and save the invoice to be able to show the dot that its compliant with fmcsa and hopefully that will keep them happy.

For now I've been using my curtain lol. Works really well but gets annoying having to slide it back constantly.

Tried that too. I have sensitivity to light and carried a doctors note saying that I should be permitted to have tinted windows. The first officer that wrote me the ticket politely said that I was welcome to challenge it in court. The second officer laughed. I didn't bother showing it the other times lol

Nope never been pulled over when I had tints on my stevens truck...I've only had an Arizona scale house lady say that they were very dark but she never pulled me in for it! That was the first day that I had them and I was tryna avoid rolling the window down for fear of scraping the tint...but what I used to do was roll the windows down at scale houses and while passing posted police officers on the highway etc! But the law states that tints on semis have to allow 70% of light to enter the vehicle ..not sure what % tint that is but it sounds like factory tint lol!

You can buy tint meters that measure the amount of light that gets through your tint. I know they're on Amazon, and there may be cheaper alternatives out there. Note that enforcement people do not always have a meter to measure the actual amount of tint you have. If you have your own meter, you can demonstrate that you are legal.

I understand there's also an iPhone app to do this, but I don't know how accurate or acceptable it is

I suppose if its a light tint it probably wouldn't draw that much attention. I' have seen countless hotshotters with blacked out front windows and was curious how there getting away with that. I guess its just a matter of time before they get caught.

I've run light tint on two trucks. Never got anything said.
But they are both neutral colored trucks, if you put tint on say a white or black truck it stands out.

That is for all trucks that fall under FMCSA/interstate commerce, not just Semis. This means your hot shot rig plated at 36k is a truck, not a pickup with a trailer and that regulations also applies.
