    Hey Rick,
Did you ever think that your little comment about a little jar in a little Subway shop would lead to this (91 posts and counting). EVERYTHING a body could want to know about tipping is right here in this thread. :study:Truckers and etiquette - who'd a thunk it? Alright, now back to the fun!

Speaking of tipping. I tip pretty good if it is good service. One thing I can't stand is lousy service tho. I am a big coffee drinker and I have no problem getting up and going and getting my own refill even if I have to walk behind a counter where customers are not allowed. While my wife wants to hide under the table I have no problem telling someone my cup is empty someone needs to fill it.

I will also leave 2 cents for a message to the server, but my wife has to toss in the rest of the tip. She gets aggravated if I try to leave a 2 cent tip. I tell my wife well it is a lot more than they deserve. Some places they bring you your drink and you never see them again. I understand when places are busy, but most of the time you will see the server gabbing away or watching TV. I will stand on top of the table if I have to to get service....

My family thinks it's hysterically funny that I'll get up and go get the pitcher of ice tea if I can't get a server to refill mine. If I have to do that I'll serve my family and then start serving the entire room. Trust me......at that point we get service...usually from the manager.

tea is where I make a decision if you get no tip. If I have to beg or get my own ice tea refill.....you can bet you're getting no tip.

However....as a family we're 5 adults, one pre-teen, two 3year old twins. We require a great deal of service for that little mob and so we tip well when that service is excellent. We also talk to our servers, ask how they're doing and treat them like people. And if a server is wonderful I hunt down the manager and brag on that server. We have servers at our favorite restuarants who like to see us and try to get us in their sections.

    Ducks Thanks this.
