Hi everyone, I'm in the process of purchasing a new truck and was wondering if any of you had any pointers on things like deciding which dealer to use, getting the best price, etc. I've had a few trucks over the years but never purchased a brand new one so I'm not sure if I'm "playing the game" right so to speak. There's a few dealers in my region, within about 250 miles. I've talked to most of them already and am waiting for quotes to come back from all but one. All the salesmen have been helpful and friendly except one I felt like he was interviewing me to determine if I was worthy of purchasing from them. Maybe I got a bad read on the guy but if I'm going to spend $200,000+ I want to be comfortable with every aspect of the transaction. Anyway, thank you for any input!

What motor, warranty, extended, trans rears, wheelbase What to haul, how the dealer treats you, call them all, find one that wants to sell it to you and earn your business!!!! Most just want you to buy it, ask a question to the salesmen, of how much are the aftertreatment filters, see what happens, some of them are outrageously priced

What you want is a white one. Make sure it's got lots of subwoofers and dark window tint.

Get the model with a foot washin' station.

And those dingleberrys around the windshield to separate you from those pesky company drivers.

Oh, and go ahead and have them remove half the front bumper so you don't have to do it yourself. Or you can park at a Love's and someone will take care of it.

Do you know what you are wanting to order? Check with the local dealers, and maybe talk to some guys locally and see where they got theirs, in my case, I flew to KS for my new Pete because he beat both local franchises and another one further away, plus they had the paint/upfit shop right on site so I basically had to do nothing but put the plates on, my truck upfitted the way it was wound up still being under one of the quotes I had gotten, so it was well worth the $500 plane ticket

I knew the basics of what I wanted and what used to be the best pete dealer around here, came back with a totally different spec to what I had told him, whether he thought I was wasting time or just not interested who knows

The service after the sale should be a major consideration as well. Labor rates, parts on hand, number of techs, hours of service, do they offer road service and what is their warranty process.

From when I was considering that path. Be cashed up, don't want it, and be prepared to walk away.

If its just price of the truck shop away, but its what a brand/dealer can offer out of hours, proximity to where you live/depo, availability of same day parts should narrow it down pretty quickly. In my neck of the worlds its why most drive Kenworth then Macks. Its the back end that matter most.
