    • 1 1/2 ounces Jamaican rum
    • 1 1/2 ounces Puerto Rican gold rum
    • 1 ounce 151-proof demerara rum
    • 1/8 teaspoon Herbsaint or Pernod
    • 3/4 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
    Calms the nerves just fine.

The ones that told you to just relax and drive the truck know you can just from what you posted. We see lots of people with CDL’s that can barely steer. You sound like you have a pretty good idea how to actually drive the thing. Needs to be more like that. Good luck.

In all seriousness, “Just drive the truck” is something my instructor used to say to me all the time back when I was in school. Any time I got confused about something or hesitated or second guessed myself, when I would sit there and ask him what to do, he would just sit there in the passenger seat, make an impatient “let’s go already” gesture with his hand, and tell me to just drive the truck. It drove me crazy then, but now, 10 years later, his logic makes perfect sense.

No need to get all fancy. A cheap plastic bottle of walmart bargain rum and a splash of pepsi for color does me just fine! LOL

Remember you are new, I don't think anyone expects you to do a perfect job shifting

This is also about the time a lot of driver's "plateau".. the first couple of weeks the general drivers skill set goes up pretty quick, they get better and driving and then, their progress just kind of trails off and they are as good as they are going to get for a while, you're getting better, just not as fast as you were. Things get a bit clumsy and you get mad and making mistakes.. this too shall pass and its normal. And believe it or not, the examiners also realize that its normal. Just hang in and you'll be OK. The best advice I can give you is that IF you screw something up on the test.. just forget it! Keep going forward and forget about the flub,, drivers who drag a simple mistake along the whole course tend to make more of them because they are not focused on what's ahead.

Don’t overthink everything either…just kind of roll with flow and such & you’ll do just fine.

Need to calm down and be smooth? Get some catnip and make a tea from it, drink a couple cups about 2 hours before hand.

Catnip has the opposite effect on humans that it does on a cat, good herb to keep around….

Thanks to all of you who replied. I'm feeling better about it now. I'm going to get a restful weekend.

@FozzyNOK I definitely recognize the plateau you are talking about. It makes sense. Just a stage of learning.

Thanks. I know I can drive the truck. I've been one of the more advanced students in the class. I'm probably the only one who's passionate enough about trucking to be on a forum for it.

    tscottme Thanks this.
