Yeah, that video at the end was an extreem example, they claimed 1:78 reduction, just used an example of a torque multiplier. You just need to move the winch enough to release the pawl at least one "tooth" per "bar motion".
I wouldn't use it for tightening staps.they will break.
Tips for loosening extremely tight straps on a winch?

the longer bar is best, the bungee in the latch does work if you use the mini bungees (4 to a pack 1/4 inch X 6 inch long). they don't hurt if you wear safety glasses. -
Ruthless Thanks this.

Question
What is this product that is being pre-loaded.
If the straps are so tight from the load crew, one has to wonder about what kind of damage are they doing to it. -
You could weld a hook on the bar (wouldn't take much say a bolt) that you could put a strap under. And make up a shot piece of strap that you could put your foot in. Like a short tow strap. Then you can use your whole body weight and do a little bouncing. Essentially standing on the bar but only 6-12" off ground 1 hand on trailer for balance and 1 hand to release. Very portable and storable.
Make since? -
If the straps are that tight, the short bungee will make things worse. Hook bungee, use maximum force to get paw to jump, now you have the 120lbs holding down a bar that wants to launch, and NO restraint system as you just disabled the safety..... best case, bar securely pinned against the rub rail. Worst case, well pick your favorite body part and imagine a big ol bruise ....
Ruthless Thanks this. -
Who said anything about a bungee?

I was referring to other posts.... but as to yours, if i get the paw unlocked, and now my weight is no longer focused down as im leaning toward the winch, now the bar comes up and takes my foot at a awesome angle...
