Ain't that the truth
. I always see these guys buying that purple power stuff at like $5 a gallon and it made no sense. Just buy the cheap stuff and $1 bottle of rubbing alcohol and your winshield stays clean!

I'll get out of your thread now. Just quit saying things that set off my "that don't sound right" meter

what is the difference between the Dayton and Budd style rims... I take it that the bud rim is one solid piece...all this is stuff i need to know on pretrip...
-
When it comes to doing your pretrip for the state to get your license, all you need to say is that you'd check to make sure all lug nuts are tight. You'd know they were loose by rust around the studs on a steel wheel or a white residue on aluminum wheels. If it were a Dayton wheel, you'd also insure that all wedges were in place and not cracked or broken and that the nuts were tight.

ok cool.....thanks -
Spoke wheels with centerless rims are known as Daytons. Disc wheels are known as Buds, both types having been named after their original producers and patent holders. That is my guess. Spoke wheels were more popular in the eastern half of the country. Spoke wheels can be changed by the driver with only a lug wrench, whereas disk wheels usually require an air wrench, and in Canada, a licensed torque wrench wheel mechanic. Spoke wheels often hop and wobble due to improper installation.
Dayton Steel Foundry is a manufacturer of Dayton wheels, and Dayton four-spring suspension which looks like a Reyco four-spring. My 1973 International had Dayton suspension and Dayton wheels. Generations of the George Walther family are owners and managers of Dayton Steel Foundry. Two of the Walther sons were involved in racing.

Give me a tip guys... my up shifting is great but down shifting is kicking my butt on the 10 speed ..... i guess i am missing the gate plus the instructor is not too patient .. he has only been doing it for 27 yrs...!!!!
-
Here's an easy thing to remember when shifting a 10 speed. Add the two digits of you speed and you'll know which gear you should be in. At 15mph, 6th gear is the optimal gear, 25 is 7th, etc.
When downshifting, just reverse it. At 55, go to 9th, at 45, 8th, etc.
Hott Rodd, Panhandle flash and Mischief Thank this. -
