Also since it's a terminal, it gets a lot of traffic. The place delivering has likely been once bitten, twice shy. Except it's likely it was more like 20 times bitten....

I also think that's a big reason for paid parking now. Drivers aren't spending like they used to because of high prices and no decent food.

A better way to eat well and be healthy is to have a refrigerator or cooler in the truck. Stop at a Walmart once or twice a week to stock up on fresh produce and whatever suits your diet. You will save money and be far ahead on your budget.

Sure, the idea of using GrubHub or similar services might be tempting. However, I simply park at a truck stop with a good restaurant and help the owners of the truck stop make a buck. It's a good thing to celebrate a good paying week or load with a nice ribeye steak now and then.

To be honest I tried to park in places where a good eating place was within walking distance.

I'm going to respectfully disagree to a point. If a truck stop operator feels that they are not getting enough revenue stream from that parking they will put up a security perimeter and charge for parking. It was frustrating to see reserved parking when it started up. Of course, everything is about money. Think about this as being the truck stops way of nickel and diming much like the airlines do.

I've used paid parking more than a few times the last few years. It's a godsend. While I stringently try to get free parking whenever possible, often it's not at midnight or thereabouts.

I don't think that helping truck stops stay solvent is a problem at all. Truckers should help truck stops by spending money.

One more point on this subject. A lot of Truckstops have had to enact smoking bans. This process started in the early 90s. It seems to me that after these bans the number of drivers you would find in these dining rooms dropped. I know it really hurt some of the places in Georgia once they enacted theirs.

I eat in restaurants more now that most states have smoking bans than I ever did before.

this is true, i'd "pig out" at the salad bar, and god forgive me, if they had ANY flavor pudding......!!!!!!

i'd use a soup bowl for the pudding, screw that "dessert CUP" you were supposed to use...lol

i'd also make sure i got me either a whole lot of peach or apple cobbler, or bread pudding...!!!!

Now that I’m back kind of OTR I’ve found a happy medium. I had a couple weekends where I wanted to be in OKC for events that were going on and when I was parked there I would purchase something in the store or eat at Huddle House for breakfast. Then my other meal would come from UberEats.

I also use Uber a lot when it comes to running errands so I don’t have to worry about losing my spot or dropping my trailer.
