Don't feel too bad; When i was with another company the "girl" (woman really---i will clarify later the difference) working in the post-trip/fueling lanes couldn't lift the hood and would always ask for help---these were R model macks. This irritated me in that why should i do your job for you? Am i getting paid for this? NO!

Then i realized that these hoods were/are a pain the butt---they are too heavy. i too, had problems so i did it by the fenders and still do. As pointed out, lift it by the area where the fender is closest to the door.

    2) What exact model macks are these?

    3) i was able to get the ford louisiville hood to open by going about 5-10 miles per hour and then abrubtly applying the brakes. But this may not help you? Maybe, if your hoods have the dog on them (they should), you could hang some sand bags off of it and try this braking technique and i'm thinking it would probably work.
Don't worry; we can probably find another solution.

    4) HOw to distiguish between "girls" and "women:"

Really, it has nothing to do with age nessesarily. But basically, if you're skinny and younger, you're basically a girl.

    Examples:
    a) Oprah Winfrey----a woman. i mean the only time she was a girl was before puberty. She's really not looking that good these days in my opinion.

    b) Barbara Bush, woman. She's a nice person but i can't ever imagine her as a kid. Some people are very mature and have no child-like qualities to them and this is not nessesarily a bad thing. i mean, even Charles Bronson and Chuck Norris you can sort of imagine as a kids.

    c) Jodie Foster is definitely a girl and will be a girl for at least 13-20 more years.

    d) meredith vieira (today show) Diane Sawyer, Jane lynch, and Suze Orman are all women. i find Jane lynch and Suze very hot, so it's perfectly ok to be a woman---i'm just pointing out the differences now.

    e) Lady gaga, katy perry etc. are girls. i don't find perry to be that hot.

    f) as far as weight i think it's possible to be heavy and younger and be a woman not a girl although it's rare.

going to try this idea tomorrow! ok, now I understand better how to hook into the "get yourself a come-along" idea. don't have cloths line cord, but do where can get some rope, already have pair of gloves. will explain the idea to the lil mechanic dude and get couple those heavy black ones for bungies. if I add the weight of fittings bag off the nose, should be able to lift from the back of fenders and get it the bloomin thing lifted.
I dunno model, it's a 2001. in the pics it's the blue one. I'm sure the book for the thing is in it somewhere, just haven't found it. the guy in it before me was quite the little packrat.
    thanks!

Looks like a CH Model. There should be an ID plate in the driver's side door jamb.

I still say there's a problem with the helper springs though, see if you can convince a mechanic to take another look at them and test them out a bit.

surely the dang things cant be that expensive. tell me where to get the springs, I'll order new set, and figure out how to put them on. the brackets or bolt holes shouldn't be that hard to find.
