Truth. Real crowded bar, ect. Lay a 20 down and see how many times a bartender walks by before he approaches you. Three times is the record.

If she's pretty and looking to earn a little extra, tipping is not out of the question....

Did you see her wash out in the truck stop mud puddle first?

What?! That's straight ####### behavior. If you ain't got the balls to say it to someone's face, some passive-aggressive note is no way to get respect.

And if you don't have anything nice to say, shut your pie hole.

    Wow.
You had nothing nice to say, but you didn't keep your pie hole shut.

Do as I say, but not as I do?

In context to your reply, your reply should simply have been...
If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything.

But then... what would be the point of a true discussion or debate, right?

I understand you were not speaking to me. For me, I will debate anybody on any topic about the world of trucking. There is a reason you don't see me active in the politics forums. Most of the time when I make such a post I don't tell the full story. That one was no exception. To be totally honest I rarely encountered bad service in restaurants. When I did I spoke to management when available. There is a reason you should NEVER chastise a server for bad service. They can do things like spit in your food! In my case most of the time when I was in my general traffic lanes I come to know a lot of the servers. Some knew me so well they would have my coffee waiting on me.

This truck stop no longer operates. There used to be a TA on I-75 south of Macon a bit. I was in there trying to get a meal and the only server was a young girl that was too busy playing grab*** with some other kids to render good service. After about 10 minutes of waiting, I gave up left one of my $10s on the table, and walked out. I was on my way to make a delivery at a food warehouse near Miami. I then deadheaded back up to near Tampa and got a load of orange juice from Coke there. Then on the way back I stopped in this same place and caught the manager. The girl had already been fired according to her.

@Moosetek13 as to what you quoted, I will let a Horace Mann quote sum up my feelings. -- “Ignorance breeds monsters to fill up the vacancies of the soul that are unoccupied by the verities of knowledge.”

I have always tipped the Waitress at the different Truck Stops. Same as when I showered, would leave them something extra. And they appreciated it also. Waitresses have been some of the nicest people I have met in this industry, they was great to chat with when they had a few extra minutes to relax.
There was a Truck Stop I frequented many times in my life, good food, clean and under great management, one evening a particular pretty one mentioned to me they was having a lingerie party at a local motel after they finished there shift, they was modeling Frederick's Of Hollywood lingerie that particular evening.
They invited several Driver's who they had known for some time. This wasn't a sexual experience, they was picking up some extra cash by modeling.
Actually, they did very well that evening, we would buy items for our Wives or Girlfriend's, sometimes both. For me it was a classy experience.
    Entrepreneurial enterprise at it's finest.

About two years ago I had to travel to Richmond for an overnight trip. I stayed in a national chain Hotel and enjoyed the service. My room was clean and actually had a nice pleasant smell when I first entered. The maid on duty knocked on my door about an hour later asking me if I was happy, and let me know to contact her if I needed anything. About 6 PM I noticed she was sitting in the lobby with her things so I suspected she was going home. I handed her a $20 and let her know how much I appreciated her dedication. I always have tipped generously and still do so today. As to Truckstops, I could count on one hand the times I have had service so bad it will always be rememberable. I remember once at the Petro on I-20/59 in Alabama. I admit I was not in a good mood because a repower went bad and I was stuck there. I walked into the restaurant and a server seemed to be ignoring me. I waited for a bit for her and just got up. I took about 3 steps when she screamed at me saying (where the (redacted) are you going). Naturally, I replied in kind and walked out. I came back about 30 minutes later and asked to speak to someone in management. That server later apologized to me and the manager comped my meal.

Most of the time I got along well with the servers. I told them to watch and make sure I could never see the bottom of my coffee cup. Some of the most memorable servers were the ones that gave as good as they took. I retired in 2012, this is one part of this job I miss the most, the back and forth banter between us drivers and these girls!
