Have never had to buy 22.5 tires before aside from two weeks ago when I lost a right front steer. Still had 8-10/32 left on those & still not sure what caused the issue. Obviously road side purchase of tires is not the way to go in terms of getting a deal.

Anyway, drive tires are what I had been saving up for. What are good used casings worth when buying new? Had a guy last year trying to sell me some 500 plus dollar Firestones & offered $40 for Bridgestone 726 casings. Thought that was a bit off on both price points.

Looking for either Bridgestone 720/726's or Goodyear 572 LHD's with three axle alignment.

I do not have access to national discounts or pricing. Looked at what the discounts were through OOIDA & did not seem to be any stellar deals there.

Also, anyone use Smartway Finance before? My truck should be paid off by years end & could defer a majority of tire expense for tax purposes into the following year using a finance program like this. *I think*.

    Any input MUCH appreciated!

Depending on condition I have seen from $80-$110 per. With current tire prices more people are keeping casings and good casings are become hard to find.

Trade in value depends on age and condition of casing, last fall I replaced drives, traded in 4 year old Bridgestone 726s for $75.00 each.

Yep, 66truck is right. Casings are usually rated for a certain number of recaps, so you'll get more for virgin rubber and a good name brand. I got $80 per tire for my Toyo M627 virgin casings last year.

I have a relative who has taught me that in the situation you describe one just has to put the time in digging for what can be had, even good companies have to do it .....

A few years ago a tire dealer allowed my $40 each for me Yoko steers. As I'm getting ready to leave the shop. I saw him mark $210 on them and put them on the use tire rack. Now when I replace my steers, I keep them, re-groove them and run them on the trailer. They are worth more to me this way than $40.

Bridgestone casings bring the best $$. I get $120 each on trade in at the TA.

As for buying tires outright, a 726EL is going torun you about $600 a piece now. I would really look into trying to find a national account somewhere.

OK, what is your card number? Come on, it is just between me & you? ;)

If you go through OOIDA, the national preferred rate is just under the $500 mark on the B/stone 726. Goodyear's were a couple dollars cheaper. But then add mounting valve stems alignment etc.

I am going to call Bauer Bilt near Chicago & the Browns Tire you mentioned elsewhere. Salem Tire (between Effingham & Mt Vernon, IL on 57) & a few other spots tomorrow. Never had any luck with the discounted pricing I have heard some get through truck stops.

Appreciate all the info. was never really clear on the casing value. Did notice on T/A's website they were specific about the age of the casing getting traded along with the brand.

    SHC Thanks this.
