If cost of chains is considered expensive then maybe trucking is not for you. A tow call when you slide off road because the cheap chains were useless will cost way more than a good set of chains

Also when you buy chains you have the extra links cut off. This way it is not ripping your fender or air lines. Good luck.

I think Washington state requires the most chains to be carried.

    Way too expensive. YES.

Use once a year. I chained up at LEAST 10 times last year. Brand new set of chains were worn out by the time summer came.

Just go up to the rockys when the chain law is in effect. Most of your swift drivers who can't figure out how to put on the chains will leave them on the ground and drive away. Watched one swifty do that and took off only to see him get stopped 2 miles up the road by a state boy who sent him back down, needless to say his chains probably wasn't laying there any more

Yes sir. I actually got some spares off the ground that way. Never saw anyone stopped. So it all worked out.

Well, Werner company policy is if chaining up is required then you should just wait until the roads are safe, if possible. When I get my own truck I might be more hardcore, especially if on a tight load, but then again I might stay cautious.

Also, where do you drive? Last winter I was running team western region, the teammate had her own chains that she somehow charmed out of someone previously, but we never had to use them, not once. Even though we crossed rockies, donner, etc. dozens of times. Maybe we got lucky.

Instead of messing with chains, go wuth Autosocks. No more metal to mess with, can throw all autosocks on in 5 minutes.
Legal in all states plus BC.

Wow, those are so weird. They look so... smooth, like they would make your tire more slippery rather than less. And I'm surprised that conservative old-fashioned America allows this European import instead of good old metal chains. Have you had good luck with these things?
