Not according to the Oregon code. It says when "appropriate signs are posted."

    Same with ODOT:

    OOIDA agrees:

The first thing I'd ask is if carry chain signs were posted, because the law states...

There is no date range in any law I can find for Oregon.

Finally found an Oregon state website that has it in no uncertain terms.

Those autosocks are great on 4-wheelers. For an 80,000 lb vehicle they work well for getting unstuck in a parking lot, but turn to rags in a few miles on chain-rutted ice or pavement. Better plan on spending your winter in the truck stop parking lot.

The Colorado State Patrol will boot you out of a chain-up area or rest area after 24-hours. Better have those chains, or you're looking at a fine for no chains, violating the 24-hour law, a tow bill to the impound lot, and the fee to get your truck out of the lot. They got tired of you guys clogging up the available short-term parking.

Hey Pony I'm not a 2 week wonder Nor a ham sandwich. And the auto sock is the best thing to carry if you do not plan on using chains period. The last time I used chains was In Alaska and it was not for snow it was for mud. Ran north and south rocky mt for years carried chains but did not use. Is there a time to use chains? Sure, but it is my choice. Seen times cops what to chain and you would be sparkin from take off and down the hill because of a spot on the hill. Use your head stop and think. And pony you want give advice you should just stick to prime advice not to getting to from point a to point b. Some of us have been doing this a longer than you. Yes the sock will shred, yes chains, cables, will tear up your equipment. And yes its gonna snow. I'm done.
