    THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT!
Thank you Brian. I was pretty sure there was something in writing, but I couldn't find it. I like that they shouldn't check unless it's visibly low. I am relieved. I won't sweat it when I get a trailer with 80 psi on a tire. Can't do anything at a meet.

Sure you can. A tire hose that attaches to your glad hand fixes a low tire quickly and easily.

My only problem with that is we slip seat-and we have thieves. You can't leave a pair of gloves in a truck or they're taken. I had a hand maul I kept in my truck until it was stolen. Now there's a company cheap hammer in the cab. I carry enough stuff from my car to the truck and back. If it's below 50% I'll call breakdown, if it's just a little low-I'll drive it until air is convenient. But that's a good tip.

If you roll across the scales in East Point, Kentucky on 23 you better have at least 75% of the recommended tire pressure or they’ll put you in time out….

I keep a 50’ hose and glad hand with a quick connect in my side box just for that, as well as using my 1/2” impact.

Bought the fittings but have not installed them to add a quick connect between the tandems or rear of the trailer so I can carry a shorter hose….

Just an idea for the slip seaters with thieves. Just toss into the cab on the passenger side, a rugged kit bag. You just take it with you to work every day and take it home. You can throw in all your work related things.

Do they actually check them with a gauge? I’ve never seen them do that. What if you have central tire inflation, do they remove the hoses to check?

The pressure listed on the tire is max pressure for max weight, even tire manufacturers recommend running lower pressures for lower weights, for best tire wear. Running empty, I would say you could run as low as 50% of max pressure and still be within manufacturer recommendations.

Yes Sir they checked mine with a gauge during an inspection, I don’t have any of the more modern inflation system on my rig to look at, so they did it the old fashioned way….
