Wishing you luck with your move. If you know of a good mechanic where you are, might be worth paying them to go over it and spend some time showing you stuff to look out for. Once you're out on the road it'll be more challenging to find trustworthy help if something breaks.

Last move I rented a truck (international) and didn't think it was right (there was some vibration from the drivetrain that sounded and felt like a rock crusher having a seizure), so drove to Penske's recommended service center the night before I loaded it. The wrench there went over it thoroughly for me when I told him I needed 2400 miles out of it, gave me some pointers on what to look and listen for, and solved the vibes.

Had a much better trip than if I hadn't done that.

Yes, go buy a tire gage to measure the tread depth. You can get them almost anywhere.

Yes. Any tire shop can check them for you. If you know how to read a rule, you should be able to tell of they are close just by looking at them. I don't know why the regs use 32ths but it equates to 1/16" back, 1/8" front.

[Confused] Air governor? for the air brakes right? or are you implying that the tires are supplied by the on board compressor? (don't think that's true)

Ok my purge valve was just swapped out, system is building pressure but around 130 psi, the emergency valve on air dryer pops out, leaking air. Then cuts off at 70 psi and builds pressure back up. Could it be my governor or filter or entire dryer?

Why did you buy a truck if you don't know this information? Most of this is covered in school..
