I have never had a problem checking my tires or engine oil because I stayed consistent when I checked. In the trucking world (I'm guessing here) but maybe 40% of all truck parking is perfectly flat. I always did a quick check when fueling because if oil was needed I could get it on my fuel ticket. Over time you can tell even with a warm or hot engine when you needed to add oil. Besides when an engine is hot so is the oil and this makes the oil thinner and it flows downward VERY fast after engine cut off. Most of the time my oil was close to the full mark on the dipstick within 5 to 10 minutes after engine shutoff. The same process goes for tires. I always checked mine when I was waiting to get loaded or unloaded I always had my air hose with me. The key to me is consistency and doing these checks at the same time every time.

You get points when you fuel up. Air lines are free at all truckstops using your fuel points. They come with glad hand so you can hook to your trailer supply RED line. And use the RED valve to air up line and tire.
You also want a tire chuck from any shop that will sell you one. The chucks that come on those hoses aren't worth a dang. And you'll be struggling to get air in the tire. Use the chuck from a tire shop and you can just simply connect to the tire valve. Rather then being on your knees trying to hold the line on good enough to get air in the tire. Them chucks aren't long enough to grab hold of your tire vavle and stay on by themselves.Lepton1, austinmike and kemosabi49 Thank this. -
That's what I do, but keep a close eye on them as they will skip the inner tires if they can get away with it.

I paid $35 for mine at flying j and it was the more expensive silicone type hose.

Yeah I was stupid and bought the first one I saw. But I had a low tire and that TA wanted to take my drivers license just to borrow their air hose, so I thought screw it I'll just buy one. Wouldn't hurt to have one for future use anyway. Then I started seeing them at other truck stops for way less and kicked myself.Lepton1 Thanks this.

Free?
If you need air , get air , if it's not free , pay for it .....the buck in quarters out of your pocket now is way cheaper than having a steer tire blow out on I10 in the middle of nowhere New Mexico (real place) at 2am . Your gonna sit for HOURS before roadside gets to you.....and you are gonna loose a lot more than a buck in quarters .......free.....lolLepton1 Thanks this. -
Drove past a driver on i80 who's whole #### steer wheel fell off and was stuck in the middle lane.
All I heard on the radio was drivers screaming "hammer lane!" They meant get in the hammer lane to go around because there was truck parts all over the road but hammer lane was clear.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Dang!!! That's a good way to end up in a coffin
