That could indeed be the best course of action. 11R22.5 tires have close to the same diameter as LP24.5 tires. Just looked on Michelin's website and a 11R22.5 XDN2 is 496 revolutions per mile. The LP 24.5 is 495 revolutions per mile.

Compare that to a typical LP 22.5 which has roughly 517 revolutions per mile.

Now, given the 11R 22.5 will have a taller sidewall, it is not going to have as low of rolling resistance as a LP 24.5. Can't be helped. More sidewall flex. How much it affects fuel economy may not be that big of a deal. Driving style has more of an affect on fuel economy.

I never really worried about economy. That taller sidewall makes for a better ride due to it absorbing shock better than much stiffer lopro sidewalls. It's pretty much the same overall tire diameter as lopro 24.5 tire.

Thanks for all the tips fellas. I thought my donor truck had 24.5s but I was wrong. So I will just try tall 22s here when my drives get wore down a little more. Any issues with leaving the lp on the steers till they are ready for replacement? Would that be enough to affect driveline angle?

No, it will not be an issue. Only 1" of right height change in the back.
