I am on my second set of bf st244 they are real nice riding tires. wear good. I like them. going to put them on my 8 drives when needed. I know they will not last as long as lugs, but the better ride 7 them.p.g. increase will be worth it

I pay the $3000 plus for my tires. Over the years I have gone both ways virgins and caps.
I have not noticed a difference in ride, durability, or last duration.
The caviot being I checked my tire pressure constantly. Maintaing tire pressure is the key!
Ride down the road and look at gators, if you see steel cords it was a virgin tire not a cap.
When i got tired of checking every time i stopped for fuel or comming out the petro,
I installed cats eyes, so i could see in a glance, without getting out the guage and bending over to check, if pressure was right. (I'm lazy plus its cold in the north east in the winter)
With all that said I just yesterday installed 8 new virgin drives tires on my truck. Reason being there was not a huge price difference cause my local tire guy worked out a cash only no reciept deal with me.

Steel wheels vs aluminum? Only difference I no is steel wheels are cheaper but weigh more and dont look as good.
So if weight or appearance matter go with aluminum.

I just got a set of Firestone 590 steers for $326 each from Petro in beaumont, TX. They're running a deal till end of the year. Mounted, balanced plus centramatics rung in at $1130 I thought that was pretty decent and it fels like a nice tire so far.
