Ch 6 is the African American's channel. Aka the "superbowl"....where some of those guys run 10's of thousands of watts, wall to wall amplifiers and big ol antennas on top of a Chevy Suburban. Those are competition key down set ups, and yes some of them ramble on for hours on end. I hear them all the time during skip cycles.

I don't understand why Hams feel that they must Police all of the air waves. NOWHERE DOES THE FCC SAY THAT YOU CAN OR ARE ALLOWED TOO! Whatever CBer's do is NOT the Hams job to tell them if they are right or wrong. You are not even allowed to tell an illegal radio operator to get off of the Ham Bands. Because if you do THEN YOU JUST BROKE THE LAW. How can you call yourselfs right by harassing other people? WHICH IS WRONG! Then you want to know why no one wants to become a Ham. I'll tell you why. Because they don't want to become a SOURPUSS LIKE THE HAMS. If ALL of US Hams would just Police our own personnal station. They we could have a good radio world. I've been on the radio since the 60's. And if someone does something that I don't like. I just turn my radio off. And maybe others need to do the same. As far as Hams the boot. I say no. Just boot the trouble makers. And I still run a CB.

I'm not a ham (yet) but I can tell you, that on some frequencies this holds true...i.e. the 28.000 to 28.300 mhz...which is not only a non voice area of the ham radio band, but also I believe where a lot of the "accidental intrusion via the export radio" happens.

However it does not hold true on all 10 meter frequencies. If you happen to land on a voice frequency and are caught talking whether it be by not giving out your station identification every 10 minutes or having the echo on your export turned on while transmitting on the 10 meter band, the hams can ask you to not transmit and be legit in doing so.

Yes, some of them ramble on, sort of reminds me of an auctioneer....you know talking really fast. However I don't believe everyone you hear on 6 runs power. I personally was in Indianapolis once and heard some black folks on 6. I had a Uniden PC68LTW that was peaked and tuned but not running an amp. I was able to key up and talk to them. But during skip time forget about trying to talk to anyone on 6 unless you're running tens of thousands of watts.

We apparently need to READ the threads instead of going off like that. NO ONE is trying to "police" all the airwaves. It should be obvious by now that what the hams are trying to do is to KEEP people OUT of the 10 and 12 Meter bands by warning unlicensed people away. Do the hams have a "right" to warn people not to trespass there? YES! Not only do they have a "right" to warn people about it, they have an OBLIGATION to do so. If everybody just sits there and ALLOWS unwelcomed and unauthorized people to just show up, amateur radio would become...........ummmmmmmmmmm................just like CB!!!!:biggrin_2557: What people do on 11 Meters is not our concern (so long as they don't splatter onto US.

If no one is allowed to present the opposing view, then what happens? The CB group thinks what they are doing is OK (because nobody is saying anything to let them know different). Truckers go out to the local CB shop and see these chrome-faced radios (WAY overpriced, btw) with all the bells and whistles. They've got what many untrained CBers think is the do-all, be-all of radio; MO POWAH! AND.......................LOOOKY LOOOKY! It's got all them "extra" channels---five or six "bands" of 'em. And its called a "10 Meter 'amateur' radio. OH YEAH! AND THEY'RE GONNA OPEN up mo' channels for CB on that 10 Meter band (NOT!) for us CBers.:biggrin_25513: And if they don't, why, I've got just as much right as anybody else to use 'em if I want to! But he doesn't KNOW the truth; he's been told by CB buddies, lying CB shops anxious to make that $$$, and CB myth there's a "freeband" just waiting to be taken. So he starts flippin' "band" switches. "BREAK ONE-NINE FER a RADIO CHECK!" And he doesn't HEAR anybody. The REASON he isn't hearing anybody is because that "band" he just flipped onto is in 28 MHZ, likely between 28.000 and 28.300 which is RESERVED for morse code, teletype and other digital modes. Even the HAMS are not to use that area for speech; it is strictly for code, and even computer "talk" that comes across as a series of chirps and beeps. BUT Mr super-dooper trucker/CBers thinks because he isn't "hearing" anything, the "channel" is 'empty'. It may or may not be. And the fellow the trucker just interfered with on 28.085 with his "radio check" just might take offense and FIND him. Many truckers would not GO up there if they knew and actually understood their radio. So HOW do they know if nobody can TELL them? Would you RATHER they get a letter from FCC because you censored the hams from explaining what is going on? Would you WANT them to get a $10,000 FINE:biggrin_25521: because of your CENSORSHIP? Would you want a driver FIRED (Tidewater Transport fired at least ONE over it!!!!)

ALL the hams want is for CBers to stay OUT of the ham bands. THAT'S ALL! WE DO NOT WORRY ABOUT WHAT CBERS DO ON 11 METERS SO LONG AS IT DOESN'T INTERFERE WITH THE HAMS!!!!!! IF truckers had not started coming up into those bands, this argument would not be going on!

    1) There in no chance CB will get any more channels however someone MIGHT have a chance to get the FCC to allow very narrow DIGITAL such as PSK-31 and the sending of DATA does fit in with the uses CB was intended for.

Well the thing that really pisses me off is when someone comes in asking about a particular radio and our resident troll sticks his nose in the thread whining and crying about the "infernal" band selector and using coments such as dem thar:biggrin_25513:, Reddiiooo etc. That is doing nothing but insiting anger among members and consitutes nothing but "Trolling" for an arguement.

If the mods or admin don't do something about such comments then we will always see threads such as this.

The vast majority of the 10 meter radio users, use these radios for the little bit of extra power they offer and nothing more. It is performance in a small package that does not clutter up the inside of the cab that many drivers look for. Nothing more, nothing less. If the FCC would up the power limits so that regular CB radios could put out more then a measly 4 watts then there would be no need for drivers to purchase 10 meter radios that can actually get on the other frequencies. But no, the hams will have nothing to do with that. Some search out drivers that are putting out some power and follow them and monitor their power levels and go crying to the FCC enforcment about it. There are even stories of hams going and cutting coax on trucks and home base units because of the power levels some are putting out.

Simply put, it is not the hams responsibility to police the 11 meter band or the equipment that is being used on the 11 meter band.

NOT going to happen ...... CB rules are not going to change but if someone feels they need to file a proposal of rule making YOU HAVE A RIGHT TOO.

As for cutting coax if a ham go caught doing that his license would be GONE ..... Interfering with a station by distroying it the FCC has a ZERO tolarance policy IF YOU GET CAUGHT IT'S YOUR BEHIND .....

Four watts (Twelve watts PEP) is more than enough power for CB as it was originally intended.
