I blew a drive tire on my way up here. I’m about to start calling the Truck Stops. I’d like to get 2 new Double coins to match what I have. Other option is 2 new Firestone 591 steers, and run the old ones. Kind of tired of doing that, but it’s an option. Depends on what I can find at what price. Gonna break down and spend some money. Any suggestions? Dealers? Truckstop? I’m going to call the Petro, TA, and Loves, now. I’m sure there’s quite a few places that buy containers at a time. Had a tire guy in Detroit that did that. Gave me great deals. He was a O/O, and had a rented Shop. The containers always came from Chicago.

I buy all my tires from Best One and have been happy with them. I know they have a location in South Bend, but not sure if there is one near Gary.

I found 2 Dbl Coin. $385 ea. Small independent on Rt 20 exit 15. Across from the world famous Ponderosa. 24.5 lo pro hard to find these days. I see that Hellmans good reviews.

Thanks for all the suggestions. 24.5 lo pro‘s are scarce. Hielmann had 2 open shoulders. I ended up getting a real good used Firestone 690, for $200, also a good used firestone steer, for the trailer, for $125, from the guy on rt. 20. He had the new Double coins in every size but mine. I also had a big bolt in the tire next to the blowout. Glad I spotted it. Must have just picked it up. Debated on another used drive, with a bit more tread for $100. Patched mine instead for $35. It’s thin, but still legal. Walmart still has the Double Coins on rollback for $326. I think I’ll buy 2 as originally planned and keep the used Firestone as a spare. That’ll give me all good drives. The plan went sideways when I noticed an out of round drive. Half looked good and half was bald. I couldn’t believe it. Been watching both closely, while running them out. Must have always seen the good half. My tire guy. says a small out of round spot, once it happens causes half of the tire to wear real quick. Makes sense. I saw it once, much worse than mine. While fueling talking to another O/O about his General tires. He couldn’t say enough good. I happened to notice the steel. Lots of tread on half and steel showing on half. He hadn’t even noticed.Counting the patch, I’ve had my 3 tire incidents. I swear it’s always 3 within a week. I should be good now for at least a year.
