LTL is where it’s at, hands down. how is this even a debate? 5 yrs down the road you’ll make 2x more working for ups and be home. otr benefits/money pale in comparison.

Roger that. I'm just starting off on a new career path and want to make sure I'm making an informed decision.

My definition of freedom is very different then living in a box being a 24/7 security guard for someone else’s truck but to each his own.

If you want :freedom:, UPS ain't where it's at, with all their rules and regulations. But, if you're in it for the money, and benefits, not many can match them.

If you’re single, OTR will pay off in the end if you’re smart. Max your 491 and IRA’s. be Careful with your cash and you can retire early.

That's a heck of a way to paint it! I was thinking that the profession was mutually beneficial between driver and owner. But I can see how in some cases, like with the infamous swift, thats the case.

How long you think a driver might need to do what you propose? 20 years? This would be starting out as a newbie to retiring.

For respectable outfits I’d take pride in protecting that truck but for the large scum companies out there I could never do it again.

This ain't a troll post. Just trying to ask some experienced drivers what their take is on this scenario.
