I don't know if they were ever inspected by DOT...and I'm not saying it is being done now, it was in the past when they were under paper logs...and you know as well as I do how creative people can get with paper logs. I doubt they can do it now with everybody going e-logs. You are right 5000 miles can't be done legally. It was probably more around 3000-4000. I know I get between 2500-3000, and I'm governed at 63 mph.

My miles for one paticular week. Have to think outside the box with the amount of miles that can end up on one weeks check

This is what your log book shows? If so, how is that reconciled with a DOT inspector when he's checking your logbook?

Think outside the box -
I understand how the PAY can carry over but not the miles ... unless, of course,. you have someone creative in the pay and/or accounting department. -

If I remeber correctly, you start out with the lumber tarp laying on the floor behind the trailer. You must lift it and carry to just past center of the trailer and put it up on the deck of the trailer. Then you have to jump onto the deck from the side of the trailer, pick the tarp up and place it on the coil on the trailer and push it over the top to the other side of the coil. Then walk around the coil and place tarp to the side of the trailer, walk to the back and climb down the rear of trailer. Walk up to where the tarp is laying up on the trailer, grab it and carry it back to where you started.
This is not timed and no, they dont chew on you if you cant complete it. In fact a guy in my group couldn't get up on the trailer and was given a couple different chances to get it done. he eventually got it the next day. That said, keep in mind that you have to complete this whole task. If you dont, you will not continue. Dont over think it. I had myself so worried about this that I thought I was going to pass out when it came my turn. Completed it no problem. No big deal.
As far as hometime goes, if you live in the areas on TMC's map that says home 46 of 52 you will get home most weekends. Yes, I said "most". There are going to be times depending on where you are and the freight in that area you may not make it home for the weekend or not until saturday morning.
Be upfront with your FM and let him/her know what you expect but, at the same time you have to realize this is trucking and on the upside, staying out will bring more $$. After you get to know your FM and establish a decent realtionship, you could start getting a choice on loads if you're empty early enough. This is when you need to think ahead to get yourself home, or stay out for more cash. A lot more than you think depends on you and how you run. Whoever is empty first in the area gets the best loads. Empty late gets you stuck with whats available. Leaving out Sunday afternoon so you have an empty trailer and fresh hours Monday morning is more important than people think. Empty early with fresh hours get the best loads. If you are doing everything right and still cant make it home, fire your FM and get a new one. Just like drivers, there are good FM's and bad ones. If you have a bad one, report it and try for a better one.

thanks river for the quick reply. What do you think, with me being 5' 6'', are the chances I can hop on the trailer with no trailer tire to help me lol...when i usually get on the trailer, i use the wheel as a step sometimes, or just climb up the backend. The lumber tarp...whats that like? the tarps ive dealt with have been not too bad, maybe 70 lbs??
Your also saying that it would be in my best interest to leave sunday afternoon? How does that work? Do I just put what time ill be available before I go on hometime? Would that mean I would have to drive into the early am hours? Sorry for all the questions, Ive had my cdl for 7 years but ive been dedicated since then, and ive yet to stay overnight in my truck. Ive been lucky with home everynight jobs. However, i dont want to leave my family during the week, but the days of me not getting hours at my job are wearing me thin. Ive liked what Ive seen on hear aabout TMC, and from what I gather, if your not lazy, dont have a attitude, and work hard, you can be happy at TMC....
