Catching a ride will never happen. Not only is it against the law, it is against company policy and will get the driver fired. If things haven't changed, drivers can get paid for showing up at a truck driving school and can get a bonus if you go with TMC and name the driver who recruited you.

Day 1 down. Physical, drug test, tarp lifting and heights test done. The dr never even looked at my knee so i could've gotten away without telling them about my knee surgery. Oh well i guess.

What law are you referring? Passengers are governed under company policy and and their respective insurance companies. -
TMC does have a passenger program but they must be approved before they can ride with you and you are charged like 5.00 for the week they ride. The passenger must be 10 yrs or older. Not sure about giving others a ride being against the law? It is against company policy.

I know I'm a little behind here, but TMC policy is no unauthorized riders period; to include family, friends, hitchhikers, other drivers or ladies of the night. Don't test them on this, I know a guy I went to orientation with who lost his job over it.

Lots of wisdom to call upon with other drivers that have been doing it for years.. Don't be too backward to ask out there on the road. -
Hello everyone, my name is Dan.
I'm thinking about moving to Joplin, Mo to turn over a new leaf with my life. Work out here in the movie industry has died and left the state for other states.
I've been looking into TMC a bit and have read this entire thread. Lots of good information and some bad. One major downer for ME is the whole 579 dealsad face...
I've had my class A CDL for about 7 years now, but really ZERO experience OTR. I went with Pride Transport for about a week and did pretty well but had to cut my employment VERY short due to personal family reasons back home. Being OTR during that time just wouldn't work. Since that time, I've started looking into OTR jobs once again.
TMC has caught my eye for a variety of reasons. One of the main reasons it got my attention was because of the physical demand that's required. I like the fact that you actually have to break a sweat while working.
I just have a few basic questions for you TMC guys.
What are the TMC trucks governed at?
How much do you typically bring home a week being on the % pay?
With TMC having a terminal in Joplin and me possibly moving to Joplin, would you say that I'd be home more than the average TMC driver?
With me pretty much not having any stick time in the last 7 years other than the week i was with Pride, how do you think that will affect my chances of being hire?
I know these are questions that I could probably get from a recruiter, but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't answer at 2am haha.
Thanks again for any information that you can possibly provide.
