I've seen quite a bit of minorities driving for tmc. As long as you have a clean background and a good work ethic you should be fine.

Okay thanks for the quick response to that, I just wanted to make sure of that, because im really thinking bout going to them and I don't want to have to deal with a company that looks down on minorities. I had a previous company I used to work for, whose supervisor thought that he was gonna be disrespectful and literally spit in my face when he kept talking to me and I had to grip him up. Now he wants to press charges, but they told me it would be a minor misdemeanor because I threatened him. But that's if the charges even hold up.

Yeah that is not true about TMC. I probably had just as many black guys in orientation with me as I did white. Even had a guy who was Middle Eastern. As long as you don't have a criminal record, bad driving record, and are responsible and they trust you in there truck, you will pass. I just turned in my truck yesterday after 2.5 years with them. It has been a ton of fun and they are an awesome place to work. I also found out that TMC has a 62% turnover rate, which if you know anything about the trucking industry, that is pretty darn good considering they are a starter company. If I didn't have a 6 month old child at home I would still be pulling around all those green machines to everywhere in the country.

I have seen plenty of colored drivers driving for TMC, I do not work for TMC but I do pick up freight from some of their same customers. Don't be discourage driver.

Thank You all for the responses, I really do appreciate it, Like I said, I was just double checking, cause I seen another member on this thread mention something along the lines of it and I'm not trying to go to a company were I'm a have to deal with some BS like that.

I recently got my CDL, and have been considering TMC. Honestly, my biggest fear is not the driving, the dealing w/ all the different freight, or even dealing w/ the pleasantries of the union steel mills... my fear is lifting those big ##### lumber tarps. I am female, and have never really had "girly" jobs. But I'm not sure I can life those lumber tarps. I know I don't have any issues w/ the steel tarps. I can build a coil rack, I can tarp a load like a Christmas present... And I have been w/ my husband in the truck for 3 yrs, I have some understanding of the securement aspects. We did flatbed for a couple yrs, now we are doing OD. He has taught me some tricks of the trade, but I doubt they will appreciate me bringing my own fork lift to put those tarps on the trailer...
I suppose all I can do is what I always do... try my best. Should I not succeed.. well, there is always Swift.....

I drive for tmc and you'd be surprised most places if they require a lumber tarp will place it on top of the load for you. The only place I've had to use a lumber tarp that didn't get put onto the load for me was at Alcoa. The load called for a steel tarp but the coils were too tall to use said tarp.

Riverrat, that was a very well explained. To be able to explain it like you did considerably confirms the work and world of TMC driving. Thanks again for your input. Keep the info going and see you soon in the yard or on the road. Later from hawk211 in the Alamo. Oh one quick question; What are the loads like for Texas. Are you aware or has anybody ran TMC loads to and from Texas?
