Speaking of hernias's again.... what kind of hernia checks does TMC do? Groinial, abdominal etc... Old topic but very curious. Thx!

I have completed my school! Tested out today. My god was I nervous! This examiner was strict! He watched every move I made..(I know he's supposed to) kind of challenging course! Fifth... Controlled stop.. He says... Hmm... Dang I forgot the flashers! My test is going south... No not literally.. Metaphorically... Lol they get where they are going.. I have already had an accident.. Now stopped.. I forget my flashers! He says "proceed" hey I haven't been turned back.. Maybe I'm still okay.. Third.. Fourth.. Fifth.. Splitter splitter.. Sixth.. Seventh.. I'm really moving along.. Eight... Weeeee.. 35!!!! Weeee... Mirrors.. Have I been in them enough?.. EeeEek mirror mirror..mirror.. TRAIN!! Eight.. Seventh.. Sixth.. Griiiind.. Griiiind... Eeeek.. Splitter splitter....fifth?.. Fourth?... Cram.. Fifth.. Yaaay!! TRAIN!!!!! controlled stop.. He said.. "Train never crosses here" the train is moving about 1/10 of a mile.. Not really but I am sitting here mortified.. Next to a guy that has not hinted at any emotion what so ever! Train finally gets past.. Probably 2 minutes.. Felt like an hour and a half.. So to pass the time.. I ask him if he's going to put the accident on my DAC. I laughed he looked at me and said "no. Proceed" eeeeek... I finish the course.. Interstate merge.. Speed control.. Exit.. Eight.. Seventh.. Sixth.. "Turn right here" splitter.. Splitter fifth.. Wow.. This exit ends in 30 feet!!! Merge merge.. Shift to sixth...grind.. Grind... Splitter splitter splitter.. Sixth.. Eeeeeeeek!! I return to the yard.. He looks at me.. And says.. "Well... There are a few things you need to work on..." He gives me really great advise! How to improve.. MY GOD!!! CRAP.. I CAN'T TAKE THIS.. I have to go back to my wife as a failure!! Emotions... Control... Must... He then says... Congratulations.. You have passed!!!
I leave for orientation with TMC next week! Splitter splitter splitter!

Im not sure about automatic trucks...i never driven an automatic truck....shifting is a skill

1. Is that every day for all the weeks you are there? You aren't allowed to be late even once?
2. Are they checking just for illegal drugs, or certain types of prescription drugs as well? Going back how far? Hair, blood, urine test, or what? What types of prescription drugs are disqualifying? If they say 'you can't drive with us if taking that' will they let you vow to quit and continue training if it's not something you must have to function?
3. If you don't pass all the requirements, do you own them money at any point in the process? How much? Are you on your own to get home? Bus tickets can be expensive without meeting advance purchase requirements, just like with the airlines.
4. Why are you glad you didn't accept their offer? What the the extra few days do for you?
5. If hazmet is a plus, why didn't you want to keep it?
6. How does anyone driving on ice and snow make any money when they're operating at a crawl when compared to good weather?
7. Exercise doing what? Have you had to load, unload or wash trucks?
8. What's the oldest age person you've seen be accepted into their CDL training program?
9. Do you still work for TMC?

Illicit drugs are a no-brainer, if you have a prescription that you take make sure you bring the script with you to the exam. One thing I will mention is if you are using Chantix, you will not get a DOT card.

If you don't meet requirements or pass their training, you will be given transportation home at no charge. As far as owing them money, no you will not.

7. Exercise doing what? Have you had to load, unload or wash trucks? Drivers do not load or unload TMC skateboards. TMC pays for the truck wash weekly (bi-weekly wash must be done at a minimum), you have to maintain the interior.
8. What's the oldest age person you've seen be accepted into their CDL training program? When I went through their CDL program in March last year, the oldest I had seen in the group was in his late 40's.

They do split urine sample...if you are worried about passing, then you probably should not apply and waste your time. They sent 4 people home RIGHT OUT OF THE GATE day 1 during the DOT physical.

Bus tickets can be expensive without meeting advance purchase requirements, just like with the airlines. You only owe them money if you obtain your CDL WITH THEM, and then either fail the 5-weeks of OTR training or quit before your 1-year commitment is up. They will get you a bus or rental car home.

5. If hazmet is a plus, why didn't you want to keep it? Get HAZMAT/TWIC/Passport if you plan to work for TMC for the extra 8 points you get towards your snapshot. Snapshot of your overall points total is how they determine your pay % (if you choose to be paid by % of which I strongly urge anyone looking at joining TMC do) you start at 26% your first month, and can go up to 33% starting month 2, but only if you have a few of these extra points that most others choose not to get such as TWIC/HM/PP.
6. How does anyone driving on ice and snow make any money when they're operating at a crawl when compared to good weather? Crawling pays better than sitting. Nobody can make money if they only wait for the roads to be warm/dry.
7. Exercise doing what? Have you had to load, unload or wash trucks? Strapping and tarping loads kicks my ###. I'm a marathon runner and have sweat more tarping a load in -50 degrees, than running a marathon in New Orleans.
8. What's the oldest age person you've seen be accepted into their CDL training program? 50+ guy in my class. My trainer is 50 and just trained a guy that is 55.

I'm not sure I understand the question?

The first week of orientation you will have to do the general knowledge, combo, and air brake tests again (on TMC's computers), but it's open book. We had 1 guy fail week 1 because he failed these open book tests.

Are you possibly referring to the driving simulators? They just put you in there to see if you have ANY idea what a clutch is. They'd almost prefer you not to know, so they don't have to waste time breaking bad habits.
