Ive heard both ways but not from an emloyee with TMC hoping to get some 1st hand insight about the pay and a little reasurance that I made the right choice.Im fully aware that it will be alot of work , but I am a hard worker and always have been just want to work for a company that recongizes that and rewards the ones who deserve it and not all the lazy people who just talk a big game.

I do NOT know a thing about TMC personally and I should say nothing. Obviously though that ain't gonna happen
Soo I will say I used to run into TMC driver's frequently when I hauled E a lot and talked to at least a dozen about what I have read here on TMC. (about 2 years ago)
What struck me is this;to a man they all seemed to like working there and when I told them the gist of what some have said here, they basically told me what I have read on this forum -those are the lazy one's.
Now I mostly pull flat also so I also asked if true they are expected to get and get rid of a load everyday. They also informed me that was basically true. It's been a couple years admittedly I've talked with any of them, however when I see TMC on the Interstate most of the loads are tarped. Everyday.? That would be a lot of work IMO.
Personally I prefer my 2-3 day runs vs that but that's just me...I'm just stating the little I know of TMC.
Also after just reading what I'm going to post..The realization for me is that I may be one of those "lazy #######". -
You are expected to deliver the load you picked up the day before as early as possible the next day and then "get" to the next shipper to pick up and then "get" to the next place as early as possible to drop off the next day.
Yes, you are expected to deliver 5 loads a week. Unless you are picking up a load that is over 600 miles, it is very do-able. The long loads are rare unless you ask for them and the reason is having you deliver and pick up everyday keeps you in the region and gets you home on Friday. Not delivering everyday pushes you back and you will not get home on Friday. Maybe Saturday or maybe you will be out for the weekend. How you run determines 90% of your hometime.
Delivering early gets you the good loads in that region. Delivering late in the day gets you whats left if anything.
As far as tarped loads, this time of year most loads are tarp loads. Nature of the beast.
Good luck.Pop Thanks this. -
good read. so to reiterate, leave sunday afternoon. so when you pick up sunday afternoon, you try and deliver as early as possible monday, then rinse and repeat so to speak? so for the load you pick up thursday, you deliver as early as possible friday, then go home till sunday? do you go home empty as well? i would like to start each morning around 5 am. are chances good that leaving at that time, staying vigilant in your work and not jerking around stopping all day, getting home fridays is easily done? thanks again

No.
You will deliver Friday morning and then go pick up your Monday morning load and head for home. If you are smart you will leave out Sunday afternoon for the Monday delivery to be sitting there in the morning to unload and have fresh hours to run with to pick up and head for the Tuesday morning unload. This repeats all week and gets you home on Friday. You do not go home empty as nothing is open on Sunday to load you.
Otherwise leave out Monday morning with the Friday pick up, drive to your unload 4-5 hours away, waste time waiting to unload, send your empty at 10- 11(or worse) am and hope to get a load that you can get to the next pick up and get unloaded at a decent time to snag a good load for the next day. This scenario will push you further and further behind all week and not get you home on Friday which will lead you to get on this forum complaining that TMC lied to you about hometime.
TMC expects you to pick up where and when told and to deliver to where and when told. How you do it is up to you. A smart driver will use his time to benefit himself. A lazy one will waste his time and then complain.
Good luck. -
oh ok i see. that really does make sense. and with good work ethic, it doesnt seem that difficult. thanks for your honesty and quick reply..have a good night!

bottom line is this $MONEY$ delivering 5 loads per week is the goal and as riverrat explained its done as to keep you within your area to get home Friday but also the money the truck earns every week is a goal so if your fleet manager gets you only 3 loads that will get to the money goal for the week meaning they will be longer runs that will take you more than a day drive but pay very good and still be able to load Friday for the fallowing monday delivery
