Just curious, when you say "they don't have anything to do" what do you mean by that. From what I understand this time of the year is freight off for most company, is that what you're referring to? I just finish my training school and have two offers one TMC and Werner, what do you recommend.
Thanks
TMC is my choice.

Werner seems to send them out for anyone that can fill out an application. I got one and they are still waiting on paperwork in regards to a minor accident I had. Crete hasn't sent anything but I did talk to them and it looks like I'll be getting in there according to the driver screening guy.

Slow as in no freight, winter slows down for alot of people, but when you go to chicago and you have to wait a day or two or deadhead out in october it is the economy. He said it hasn't been good for a while

I just came from TMC's Orientation. I can tell you they are very serious about walking on the grass. They will send you home at your expense. That isn't why I came home. There was 34 people in my newbie class. There was about the same in the experienced class. That would be considered a large amount of people for the usually. If you learned anything in school, and can get through a basic math test, you shouldn't be worried about the testing. It isn't rocket science. The physical is what gets most people. I came home early because of a hernia I didn't know I have. I was one of four newbies the first day. All of us had the same problem. I did ride in one of their trucks. Very nicely maintained. I'm probably not the person to give you advice on this since I was only there one day. But I'm not waivered. I'm trying to find a Dr. now that can take care of this problem and isn't going to charge me an arm and a leg... or whatever for it. I've been out of work for a couple of months. But I'm going back. I got the feeling that they really want you there, and they want you to succeed. But they want it on their conditions. It is their trucks afterall.
Baack Thanks this. -

I was sent home for the hernia. I wasn't going to tempt the fates by walking near the grass. I just wish I didn't have to drive 600 + miles to find out I had one, just to turn around and drive 600 + home. In my experience, when you have that kind of structure in an organization, things just run smoother.

I agree. If they took teams I would be all over it.

Mike,
Sorry to hear about your hernia. I think that once you are repaired that TMC will take you back.

As far as freight volume it is always screwy around the holidays. This is the third holiday season with TMC for me and there are always slow weeks between November and January. Once you average the year together it doesn't matter much. -
Hey rawlco, I really enjoy reading your threads. You really are a tremendous source of information for us newbie want-a-be's. Please keep up the excellent work. So with that in mind, I have a couple of questions for you. First, I live in the center of the state of Missouri 30 miles south of Columbia, Mo. and Interstate 70:do I live in a good freight lane area? And second, what would a typical week be like for me if I were a driver for TMC living in the center of Missouri? Thank you in advance for your reply.
