Yes I have been seated at the worst table in the place and received poor service with dates of other races as well as with white dates. Try harder!

Caught many folks staring at my dates but heck I am not gonna start dating ugly women just to avoid that!

I didn't read about it on Wikipedia....and yes I realize there's a few publications on it. Sage is the last one I'd pick to read about anything on.

There's a special group, that uses the same initials as Bureau of Land Management, and they would disagree with you. It only exists in one direction according to them.

    The hotel incident.
Apparently, it was not too terrible as the plaintiff made it thru the 2 week orientation.

The trainer told him to tarp the load without help. What did the driver think was going to happen when he got his own truck. Nobody to help tarp. Best to learn with the trainer supervising than without.
My experience of team driving consisted of 2 trucks making delivery and then tow bar second truck to drive home. Usually both of us were awake for the entire ride home.
I have no idea how long (if ever) it takes 2 strangers to get along to get along. The driver must have survived this also, as he was assigned his own truck.

Mr. Moyer threats or statements? I'm sure it depends on perception.
We all know or have read about people that like to embellish events or circumstances. It may be Mr. Moyer uses the knife and his story telling to help prevent any strangers (trainees) from starting any physical confrontations in the truck.

The Virginia "welcome wagon" load. Can TMC drivers refuse loads? Why didn't the driver deny the load the 2nd time when it was assigned to him. Rather than go to the shipper where he had the bad experience, no internet or cell phone connection.

Medical treatment was allowed. Why did the driver refuse to drug test? Even with the recent surgery, when he gave urine sample, declare any medications he was taking or was administered in the hospital.

When a driver refused to UA, I thought the FMCSA required either suspension or dismissal of driving duties, and the Clearing house is used to keep track of these drivers.

The facts will surface during these proceedings, unless there is a compromise, and the case files are sealed
Below are a couple articles about prejudice.

Maybe Michelle Obama was the one who was prejudiced all along? (msn.com)
    Happy day to everyone.

Only if it's a legally required drug test. Some companies drug test after every incident, some only do when it meets the requirements set by FMCSA. I didn't care enough to get to why the drug test was given so I don't know if it's required or not.

Now if it was required and he can't drive until a SAP signs off, it makes this look even more like a money grab.

Man this thread got interesting quick. I just had a thought to share though. I'm flabbergasted that so many members legit don't think racism exist, or they downplay it if someone says they experienced. Trucking might the most racism filled industry of all. I have seen how some of you talk on here, y'all know who you are. Ive heard the banter at the truck stop, shippers, rexeivers, even at my company's terminal. I'm here to tell you that's it here and it ain't never gonna die. I think one of the reasons racism or discrimination of any kind exists is that so many people are resistant to learning about worlds outside of their own. They think that their individual world is all that exists. Then if some pulls the discrimination complaint, as the guy dud in the lawsuit, why pick it apart? Why can't we just listen and wait to see what becomes of it? Instead, folks say he embellished or made it up. I can't know if all of it is true or not, but if he experienced it, I'm not in position to say it didn't happen. I feel like perhaps discrimination would be decreased if people just listened more instead of trying to deny their feelings. You can't tell folks what they did or didn't experience. Everybody copes differently, and if the driver felt the need to file a lawsuit, it's his prerogative.

On a side note, if there was a spot where the plaintiff fouled up, I would not have entered dialogue with my dispatcher about the George Floyd case. The driver should have just let him know about the load and left it there. I just don't think work is the right place to even have one sentence of dialogue about thise types of societal events.

Pretty sure not one single member here said they believed racism currently doesn't exists or down played it. Several were expressing their skepticism on the TMC story being true. I'm sure everyone here has experienced racism in some form or fashion. ALL races are guilty.

Where the the problem lies for some is, they can't actually always determine if its racism they experienced or their character and actions that people have judged them on. Or maybe they don't want to know, and jump to racism automatically as a defense for everything.

People have been telling fishing tales since day one and we the people of the jury will continue to pull out the measuring tape. And just because we comment on and analyze the fish and fishermen in question doesn't mean we are, or are not, fish or fishermen ourselves. But gatekeepers of speculation will always police the dock...

I don't doubt for a minute that racism exists out there. But just some of that particular story doesn't make sense in this day and age. The TMC manager saying "Boy suck it up, or take the Greyhound home"? Or the trainer not letting him get off the truck, to use the bathroom?

Judge Judy says, "if it doesn't make sense, it didn't happen". And some of that story doesn't make sense.

So let em. It ain't for us to decide what one thinks is racism. If they feel they have been wronged, we can either listen or not. People will feel how they feel. In my opinion, there isn't a need for skepticism reading that lawsuit. It's not unheard of for people to deal with that in our industry. I just see a lawsuit filed, and until proven otherwise, I'll opt to take the plaintiff's word.

Also, in this thread alone, it was shown that some folks don't think racism exists. Nobody is going to outright say that, they may tow that line some though. The actions show in this thread lead to believe that some view racism as no big deal. As a black man, I experience it with decent regularity. I'm just not one to complain about it. Now if someone wants to complain about, they have an ear in me if they want it. Sometimes an ear is all someone needs.
