I wouldn't work for TMC. Trust me, they stink!
-
whats wrong with tmc??? i heard they are a pretty good company to work for. enlighten me please -

I love TMC, i drive for them currently. They will not allow dogs, but in all honesty i wouldn't want one. I rarely want to stop to use the bathroom myself, i can only imagine having to stop every hour or two to let my furry friend out.
I also believe that (Unless the dog is pretty small) it's somewhat cruel to keep an animal as big as some i've seen locked up in a truck all day. These animals need room to move, and to run, etc. I wouldn't dream of having a pet of any kind in my truck. I stink it up enough by myself *Grin*.
Good luck on your search, i've heard good from Maverick, Boyd, mostly heard bad from Melton, though. They pay well on a per mile basis, but most of the Melton drivers i talk to complain of not getting any miles.
Good luck on your search my friend!TNspeedy Thanks this. -
I worked for melton for 7.5 years and I QUIT..there miles suck and they promise you 1000 bucks a week..Yeah right..they have a nice terminal and such but if you want to make money GO SOMEWHERE ELSE..I wouldnt wish melton on my worst enemy..there a joke and they watch your logbook like the dot does every time you go to the tulsa or laredo terminal they audit your logbook and if it doesnt match up they will and can fire you on the spot..one last thing you better like tarping because they tarp 95% of there loads just so they can make more money and pay you only 40 bucks when there charging the customer 200-350 for tarping it..as for a company to work for I would suggest you look around on here and talk to truckers on the road about how they like the company there working for..good luck to ya
TNspeedy Thanks this. -
maverick- not specialized, no pets, good pay, benifits, watch ur safety points, don't run excessivelly hard, learn good securement, good home time, I'm an x-driver- still say good place to work.

Drove for Melton, agree with the above.
Wanted to drive for TMC but ended up driving locally. Most of the TMC drivers I talked to seemed pretty happy aside from the one who are pigs by nature so they griped about having to keep the trucks so clean.
Didn't talk to Mavrick drivers much so I couldn't help there. -
I'm with TMC, not too many significant complaints. I don't see many Melton trucks about much, or Maverick either, but then again I am usually north of I-70 (NE regional). Here's my current gripe list, for what it's worth.
1. TMC's freight in the northeast is rather slow and cheap right now. I am having trouble making enough money, and this is with 5 runs a week. If you're looking for more money, this may not be the place at this point in the season (if you're in the northeast, anyway).
2. TMC will occasionally ask if you want to stay out and run over a weekend (well, us Linehaul guys anyway). Sure, ok...maybe more money...but every time I have I wound up sitting still the entire weekend. This is my only real gripe...the inability to plan a load to keep me moving over a weekend. Probably a minor complaint in the grand scheme of things, but it annoyed meTNspeedy Thanks this. -
Hey there Mr. Penney, welcome to the boards.
Don't know if you remember me. This is Randy, we hung out at DSM and went to red lobster, i think it was around easter time (I got stuck out there). Good to see that you're still with us. Give me a call sometime if you still have my number.
And i agree with you. But, luckily for us we're paid by the percentage, can you imagine how much we'd be making if we were being paid by the mile? Ouch. That could really suck lol.
