Well at least their trying to learn. For a lot of us, boss gave us a set of keys and said go pick up . And we did
The old sink or swim intro, worked well as long as the person had a lick of sense & some degree of self-preservation.
Folks keep in mind that is the time they spend in tmc classroom settings and then put with a trainer for an additional few weeks.
Both programs are good options its up to you either which way you going to get the same training on how things should be done
It's 3 weeks in Des Moines learning, securement, driving, shifting, backing, and simulators. Then after you get your cdl, you are then sent out with a trainer for 5 weeks. You also test for your cdl right at the terminal, then you are sent home to get your hard copy cdl.
Yes it is it will go by real fast doe I started with TMC at the end of March I was in my own truck in May
1. Is their time with a trainer spent as a team operation or is it actually where the trainer is sitting in the jump seat paying attention to what the trainee is doing? 2. Is the trainer qualified to train, has more than 6 months experience or is the trainer fresh out of the trainee puppy mill himself?
The first 3 weeks the trainer sits in the passenger seat, the last 2 weeks are an option to run team. The trainer spends a week in a train the trainer class to determine if they are good enough, then they have yearly retraining and have to have one year driving in all weather
That's my only grief with tmc. A trainer should have more y than 1 year experience. 3 would be the arbitrary number i picked. 1 just isn't enough to experience all the random crap that happens. Example: You can go a entire winter and never get the chains out. While the next you might chain up 3 times in a single day.
