freight is indeed picking up. I'd go for it.

people are quitting due to low wages (relatively speaking compared to the amount of work performed) and slow trucks, I'd guess.

For what its worth, I just got a call today from TMC offering me a spot hauling boats out of Knoxville. I would have jumped on it in a heartbeat but once I told them I only had 14 months exp driving they said they could offer me a line haul job for 6 months and then do the boats. Sounds like they are looking for good help, the recruiter that called me said his name was Jared, so if you call in, ask for him.

Im fortunate that I dont have to work right now or i would still be driving for them, Im needed here to take care of the family farm for the time being. Good luck to all and God Bless.

People are probably quitting for a whole host of other problems too. Road repair just absolutely sucks! Cant put it much other way. When you need help the most, they leave you hanging.

Other people # corp. level treat drivers like a turd in a punch bowl, fleet mngrs. expect the impossible.

I could go on, but I won't... Not now, but when I'm done w/them (or they get done w/me), I'll share some stories.

I have had similar problems with the shop... had/still having a massive antifreeze leak when it gets really cold, like my radiator empties itself on the ground and causes a hazmat spill... had it in the shop 3 times, even got the VP of maintenance involved, their solution, and I quote: "check the weather when you park for the weekend and if it gets real cold put a bucket under it"

I come from a trucking maintenance background and honestly could not believe this. if it were earlier in the winter I'd ask the shop for a 55 gallon drum of antifreeze to strap to my trailer, since they're paying me back at $12 a gallon for Pilot antifreeze, this would save money, right?

only solution to this problem is that it's not going to happen next winter. I applied at Walmart, which after doing a little research, has the potential to pay DOUBLE what I made last year. DC 99 miles from home. hoping they call.

carterbeauford said that they said: "check the weather when you park for the weekend and if it gets real cold put a bucket under it"...

WTH? A BUCKET? Buckets are like 2-3 gal., right? We'd need a TUB! I'm surprised they don't ask us to capture it, filter it, and pour it back in.

Carter, I think that A/F leak problem ("cold water leak" is how I've heard it spoken of) is just in the nature/defect of the c15. I've had that same problem repeatedly w/both TMC trucks I've had.

One day I had to put in 5 gal.! I came home w/2 gal., but had to buy 3 more from the local parts store at ~$15/ea. I bought all 3 at the same time, but made the clerk ring them up separate, in order to not exceed the $20/25 purchase limit they put on us (No way am I gonna wait around the required 2-4 hrs for road repair to get back w/me). Then when I got to the next tr. stop, I bought 2 more. I spent close to $70 just for A/F that one day! Never had anything questioned tho, and got my reimbursements two wks later, as usual. FYI: I've found Love's has it $2 cheaper than Pilot, at $10/ea., and all Love's have TransFlo, too.

I concur, wholeheartedly w/your solution! This will not be happening to me next winter either. I'll be making a change in about 5 months myself. I hope & pray it'll be change for the better.

I've sort of got my eye out for local tanker jobs. You know... those guys w/trucks that do not have a closet behind the cab to live in. Home nightly & for two WHOLE days at a time. Paid by the hour.

I've heard really good things about driving for Wal-Mart, but not sure I could meet their requirements, like needing 7 years experience for them to even consider your application. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this? Have also heard people say if you have 2 yrs. clean record, & HazMat they will consider you. Don't know what to believe. May just apply there myself to find out.

Good luck to you! Let us know how things work out. Best wishes

You know, you can crawl under your truck and tighten the clamps(s) on the hose. If it has only one, add another. Just don't over tighten it.

50,000 in each of the last 3 years, 250,000 total.

been there, it's not a clamp, I'm thinking o-ring or something with the water pump. pours right out of the side of the engine near the oil filter. only happens below 10-15 degrees. I have put literally 40+ gallons of antifreeze in this thing this winter. their money. they refuse to send it to a Pete dealership for a proper diagnosis. it got old waking up in the morning when it's 15 degrees out and having to put 2 gallons of antifreeze in the overflow tank before it will even run.

Can you tell, exactly, where it is coming from. That location may be from the air compressor. Again, it may be the hose or hose clamp. I am, certainly, no mechanic, only offering suggestions. I had one leaking from there and it was a simple fix.

Check the little hose, maybe 6" to 8" on top of the air compressor. It isn't completely straight, but isn't real bent either. Squeeze it, if it is all mushy, it needs to be replaced. I have seen several rot. It starts slowly, once it burst you will loose all your coolant.
