Boyd gave me a pay rate before they told me I was out of the hiring area, and .40 is what I was told by Melton, I make a little more than that with Roehl, plus more hometime.

When I was with my trainer we really didnt team at all in the 5 weeks I was with one. I had previously driven but was in the military for 4 years so my experience from before did not count so thats why I still had to do 5 weeks. My trainer was super confident in my driving obviously, you dont forget how to drive, but I wanted to stay with him for the full 5 weeks for the additional knowledge of securement. Glad I did and like I said we did not team much but that also has to do with the fact that I was living in NC at the time and we were up in the NE a lot and those runs up there are usually only 300 miles. Living in the midwest I would guess your average run is 4-500 miles and that is everyday delivering and picking up. Not 100% because its been 1.5 years roughly since I have been on linehaul.

As for Roehl paying more, on % I was taking home 800-1000 a week no problem. That was being home every weekend.

I am SO glad I am hearing the real story vs. the recruiter's version. I initially was making TMC my #1 pick b/c they DIDN'T team...and then I took them off the list when recruiters said they did. So glad now that I am getting the right story and I can again move them to my #1 spot.

It all depends on the trainer too though. Yours may want to team for a week or 2, but the most important thing is that if you dont feal comfortable doing it say something. Also if you go to TMC and you dont like your trainer, call your training coordinator and tell him. The TC will get it figured out for you or if need be find you a new trainer. Also you may team a little bit anyways but I dont mean all out running the truck 24/7. You usually cant do that pulling a flat especially when so many of the loads only go 4-500 miles. I would ask around on here and find a trainer and PM them with any question about the process of being with a trainer. Like I said earlier, my experience was totally different with my trainer. His truck/trailer and we did what ever speed we liked and because it was his truck and trailer he didnt like to all out team a lot he prefered just to take the good paying load, even if it went 200 miles or 800 miles. Didnt matter.

thanks for everyone's info about both companies so far I haven't heard anything from Roehl after I took their physical last week but I have been in contact with tmc this morning they called asking me around what date I would be wanting to go to their orientation around and ask about if I had a location where I would be parking their truck at on my home-time if I'm hired. any ideas where to park around Chicago I know I would have to rent a space but I need to know how I can find such places??

cIn my opinion, you couldn't go wrong with either one of these companies. Roehl has an excellent cpm and great benefits. TMC has the option of being paid percentage and they have great equipment. I have heard also that they are installing 22 inch flatscreens in the new shipment of trucks. Can't beat that! You are lucky to be able to have such a great choice to make. Like I said, they're both great companies.
