I have NEVER polished my wheels/chrome/etc or have been asked to, and have never seen a white glove inspection. Your asked to keep the truck clean with bi-weekly washes and vacuum when fueling if at a terminal. I didn't do a "backwards figure 8" during training and prolly never will. My class started with 36 and graduated 20'ish. Most quit or were let go during the first week for being too dumb or having medical/drug issues. 1 guy couldn't pick up a lumber tarp so the told him bye bye. It was a little nerve racking but I made it through with no probs and I had zero experience in a big truck (just out of driving school). Like it was said before, they are picky who they hire and I appreciate that, I dont want to work with a bunch of noobs or for a company that dont maintain their trucks. My training with a company driver was 5 weeks, I go home EVERY weekend, qualcom, no pets, no apu, 62 mph, black and chrome. Im happy and so is my family.

I just got the word this morning that I've been pre-hired by TMC. I've read through this thread, and while I can appreciate every opinion on here, I'm not swayed by it at all. I drove for Swift back a few years ago, then got married and heard the "you're never home" speech. So I let my license go and took a factory job. Now I'm divorced and just completed CDL training so I could reacquire my license and credentials. I'm fully accredited again and cannot wait to get back on the road. I'm looking forward to the possibility of driving for the black & chrome crew. I don't mind a little discipline or an extra push. It's a nice change to see a company that doesn't want "cookie-cutter" drivers. I can appreciate the fact that they have a near-spotless insurance claims record (almost 100%) on both their drivers and their freight. That, to me, screams SAFETY. I'm most likely headed up that way around the first of next month and am absolutely jumping up and down with excitement. I realize that if I don't make the cut at TMC, I can go drive somewhere else, but I consider them to be a prestigious company. I want to be proud to drive one of the few rigs they have, and not be in a blue or orange rig (along with 10,000 other drivers). I'm not saying that I'll definitely make it, because NOTHING is set in stone, but I AM saying that I'm going to give it my best shot, and if I make it, great. If not, I'll go somewhere else.
