I work with tmc for roughly 3 months. I went thru the two weeks of orient. and the five weeks with a trainer. I came straight out of roadmasters and to tmc. I will say the training is good to have from tmc every company looks at there training program very highly. Most people don't understand they are stricit for the first two weeks like the grass thing. Think about the fact if u can follow simple direction like don't walk on the grass what are u going to do in a truck. They the best I have seen for orient. so far. I left after having my truck 2 months cuz it kept breaking down and they kept taking money out of my check. I applied at a local company with 2 months experience and 20,000 miles and since I work for tmc they gave me a truck without going with a trainer, just have to do a road test and backing test. So being at tmc help me with get the experience I needed. So take what I said for what it's worth just thought I would voice my exp with them.

Only the top 5% make it through the TMC program. Then, OTR with a trainer another 3% is cut down. So your left with 2 %. It's pretty ridiculous! I was rejected because of not shifting up to my trainers standards second week. I'm glad I don't work for them. I'd be afraid that if I farted in one of there trucks, they would put me away for life!

I got laid up at Nucor for 8 hours of layover, I sent in for layover pay and was told by Candy that Nucor does not pay layover, how nice. TMC leaves it up to their customers whether or not they want to pay layover, one of the reasons I left. Candy was nice enough to give me a partial list of the companies who never paid layover so I could try and avoid them when I had the choice.

In all fairness to TMC it isn't a 2 week orientation, but a 3 day traditionol orientation with a week and a half load securment training.
Now I don't believe that brining in someone for orientation and not working with them isn't wright. It should be told up front. I believe that is the honorable thing to do . -
TMC will be one of the big ones that makes a lot of dust when they fall!! And personally it wont hurt my feelings at all. Pompous, arrogance, and just a down right disrespect for the majority of recruits is uncalled for and will promise to be the demise of TMC eventually. PRIDE ALWAYS COMES BEFORE THE FALL!!!
allycatt2 Thanks this. -
just keep your truck polished and washed and they will never fire you. You may only get 800 miles a week, but as long as your truck is clean. Rumor has it that all TMC ever does is haul cleaning supplies to their terminals.
