I don't know what that mix guys talking about. Not calling him out but I'd almost be certain he didn't make it for other reasons. Sending a guy home because of race or a certain disability opens up a company like TMC to a huge lawsuit. Which they wouldn't do.
To answer you're question blinddog no I'm not. I loved it their and miss the road terribly but my wife hated it with a passion. So after taking the divorce threat seriously I left. I work at a steel mill in eastern pa now. Its a good job but miss those trucks. I get on here to help guys like you make good decisions. TMC is a great company but everyone's experience is different. Honestly the people that have a bad attitude towards them couldn't handle them or messed up and didn't think they should've been fired. Any other questions let me know

OK here is the story again there is no reason for me to lie but I am a huge defender of veterans and if I knew back then what I know now I would have took futher action. It's not that they sent me home and said I couldn't come back they actually tried to schedule me for 2 orientations later but I was very upset that they told me I needed to get a doctors note for something that happened 4 years before that. The only reason they found out is because I have integrity, most people would not have said anything. So i was told if I didn't have a doctors note in 24 hours I would be sent home to get one. I was giving a little over 12 hours and was sent home. I was really hype about TMC and still think they might be a good company to work for. All I was doing is letting other vets know about my experience with them at orientation. If you don't like what i said please don't make me out to be a lier. Trust I have nothing to lie about. Anyway if you want positive info about TMC talk to milskired he know of me from back in 2010 and again all I am doing is giving my experience so take it or leave it. GO ARMY BEAT NAVY!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and BTW the race thing as I stated before I was a little mad and being as though there were only 3 black guys there and 2 of us went home i felt like that was the real reason why I went home but now I believe they were looking for reasons to send people home because the orientation had more people there then normal and I gave them a reason to send me home by telling them I was disabled with no doctors note, even though I didn't need one. Anyway hope that helped a little bit Blind Dog. Also if you want to do flatbed check out PGT out of PA

Thank you for the quick response. Theres a couple reasons I THINK I would rather do flat bed 1- gets you out of the truck cab and forces excercise. 2- home most (not all) weekends. The reason I would want TMC is pure VANITY. Those black and chrome Peterbilts!!!! Holy crap Batman!!!! I'm vain enough that if I'm gonna "live" in a truck, it might as well be beautiful. I mean, really.
Polar Bear, sorry to hear about why you got out of trucking. The solitude looks VERY good to me. If my wife wants to divorce me over driving a truck, then I guess we dont have much of a marriage. I'm just saying. But then, are children are grown and out of the house.
I really want to drive. I want to be ALONE!!! I would LOVE to go a full day and never have to speak a word. That would be heaven for me.
As a master technician, setting up the truck to live out of would be wayyy too easy.
A good invertor, and everything inside would be 120 volt, instead of the 12v stuff. Thats just me. Guys I'm open to all input from anybody that has a good opinion. I've been thinking and dwelling on this for 2 years now. -
Yea i would love to be alone also then come back to reality on the weekends would suit me just fine lolBlind Dog Thanks this. -
That's the kicker I have 4 young kids at home and not seeing dad was a bad deal. But you never know if this place closes up or I get laid off ill be right back in a truck
Its not just a job its in my blood deep. All my family were truck drivers. I was born in it. And I imagine ill die in it. -
"I would LOVE to go a full day and never have to speak a word. That would be heaven for me."
That's how I am all the time!! That's one of the main reasons I want to drive.. :O) -
Blind_Dog,
Did you read where the VA is now paying the total cost for truck driving school? Not just part of it. That, plus TMC's apprentice program looks like a good junk of money for us Vets..
I am a retired SFC from the Infantry as well. Right now I am a contractor in Afghanistan helping soldiers with their confirm zero and I also teach Tactical Directives.. Easy money.. -
inbdusfor20yrs.... you are a DOG!!!! Contract work for Uncle sam. Howd you pull that gig? As a retired Drill Sgt, that would be a great job for me too!! I was in south central Baghdad, working with the Iraqi National Police, while the "surge" was going on. It was a CRAZY day when they hung 'ol Sadam.
I have checked into the VA paying for things. I'm actually waiting to hear back from the VA. I got a letter from them the other day, stated they were "behind" on paperwork and might take a while to process. Whatever. I was proud to wear the 1st I.D. patch in Baghdad. We had to go through Kuwait to confirm zero's and such, before we went north, so I understand your "job."
As for the solitude, THANK YOU for understanding!!! I dont know if its an Army thing, people just "annoy" me anymore.
Great news though.... I received my pre hire letter from TMC!!!! I'm so stoked about that. I can be as "anal" as I want to that truck when my names on the door!! I'll show them a clean truck! I've lived out of a ruck, I can sure live inside a truck.
Thank you to all the veterans! God bless! I cant wait for Demoines!!! -
There's a vet in my truck driving class that's a vet and they are paying his way thru school which is pretty sweet.
Im going to try TMC because they can reimburse my tuition up to $100 a month
