You should listen to George Carlin on Youtube when he talks about how people are boring.. You will get a kick out of it. :)

Did the VA say would pay you a certain amount each month until the reimbursement for the school is complete or do they make a bulk payment? If they pay each month, PLUS the monthly payment for the TMC apprentice program, that's over $2000.00 a month from the VA alone.

DC804, are you telling me that TMC will only pay $100 month for tuition reimbursement?? Thats not much.
As for the VA, the letter I received from them stated they are processing my claim, but they are behind on paperwork. They also said I shouldnt contact them to check status, they will contact ME when they are ready. Sounds about right for the government???
I'm at one of my customer locations and there are 2 BEAUTIFUL TMC trucks sitting in the yard waiting to be unloaded.
I'm going to attend Sage school at the local community college in Jan, 2012. I've got my prehire from TMC, I'm just marking the days on the calander.

I applied to my school(allstate) in Philadelphia, PA thru the VA and got approved before I attended. School was paid for and I received a check from VA for 1 month that's all I was there for. Was going to do the apprenticeship program at TMC but had a mishap at orientation.

Miz, yah I remember reading your prior posts. I'm not worried about weither or not the VA will pay for the school, because TMC has tuition reimbursement. so either way, its free to me. I'm trying to look at driving as something I will do until I retire, not just until something better comes along.
I was talking to a TMC driver this morning, very young guy, I cant stop drooling on those trucks. I never realized how TALL the trucks are, until your standing right beside it. And, I thought the trailers were HIGHER than they really are. Anyhow, this driver had very good things to say about TMC, didnt catch his name though, it wasnt on the door. I learned long ago not to wish your life away. Im very excited to go to TMC, but the school start date will get here when its time to get here. Ya know?

The recruiter said they pay up to $100 a month for tuition reimbursement. My loan is $137 a month so really I would have to pay $37 out of my pocket I guess....

I guess I really am a rookie!! I actually thought they would pay more per month for school. However, they do reimburse for the total amount of your school, up to like $5000.00 right?? Anybody??

Not sure about TMC US Xpress had up to a certain dollar amount I was really stuck on TMC trucks too until I read a couple of post that stated the company cares more for how it looks then how they run. Still when I get my experience I might take a trip to Des Moines and become a TMC driver. I just want to get my experience out the way cause being gone from my family for almost 8 weeks for orientation and being out with a trainer is just a little much for me.

Milskired, Thank you for answering the pm's I sent you. It helps me alot to get the REAL inside scoop.
I am definitly coming to TMC in the early spring. I just have to go through the school. I was wondering though, does any TMC driver on this thread have their truck tricked out with all the goodies? Like microwave, fridge, whatevers......
That young driver I met the other day stated he only used a cooler because he didnt have an invertor. I asked him why he didnt already have one, he said he had to wait for the 40,000 mile service to have one installed. He also didnt have his name on the door. He stated the same thing. The web site shows you get the truck with your name ALREADY on the door. If your only running 2500 miles a week, thats about 4 months give or take until you will get the invertor installed by the shop. That seems like a VERY long time to have to wait. Does anybody have the real scoop on this??
Thank you all for your help with this.

You can get your name on the door right away. I still dont have a fridge or anything in here. No real need for it I guess.

Just a quick question. Are all you vets that are talking about the VA paying for your school still within your 10 years of getting out? I didn't think the VA would pay past that. Just trying to get info, I am just starting to check out companies and TMC is looking pretty good!!!!!
