Yea because like the other guy said you may run shorter miles but with expensive loads but with the percentage youll end up probably running cheap loads. I think miles would be more consistant for new guys to get a hang of things. Theres pros and cons to it all.

I'm seeing that now lol. % pay just seemed like a commission based gig for truckers almost to me. I need something with a average weekly pay rate vs the high and low roller coaster. Really considering TMC if they have enough freight moving around the midwest area to give me that peace of mind.

Run on percentage. Your paycheck will be dependent on your pay percentage you are currently at. Regardless of percentage vs miles. Also when you get your load you can calculate what you will be paid to the cent. When you go out with a trainer they will have you keep track of your pay both ways. You will see which earns you more money. For me I'm on percentage. At one time I was running a specialized fleet paid miles. I lost money. If you want to make money on CPM you have run all the time!

I see what you're saying. That makes sense. I was just kinda worried about the pay if i wasn't hauling anything. The recruiter mentioned something called "dead miles" with the percentage base pay on empty loads but i didn't quite understand what he meant by it.

The truck is not going to move persay unless it has a load assigned to it. That being said, you will be paid going to pick up and deliver the load.

Your pay for the truck is based on the area and the distance between shippers and receivers, not the value or quantity of the load.

I see what you're saying if i stay in a busy area for TMC. Is it true to what they're saying about averaging 11 to 1300 a week?

Yes you can however, you don't choose where you want to run. The planners send you.

What is being said on here is total BS. I work for them, and you will not make $1100- $1300 a week. I live in a good area as well.
