Very good post. But what always confuses me...why don't we go to a good company that we can make a career with, one that takes newbies. Otherwise, you spend two years with a company and just when your pay is starting to come up, it's time to quit, after just a few years. Then you have to go to a new company where you get to start all over again. TMC would not be my number 1 choice of trucking companies, even though I have a few friends that work over there. If there was a perfect trucking company, there would only be one trucking company to work for. A trucking company is like a wife, you need to find one that you can put up with their #### and they can put up with your ####. There's only two flat bed companies I would recommend-Maverick Transportation out of Little Rock, Arkansas. I worked for them for 7 years. I'd still be working for them today if it weren't for the medical problems that forced me to retire. And Roehl Transportation out of Wisconsin...I may not have Roehl spelled correctly but you know who I'm talking about. My son has been with them for 5 years and he is a flat bed instructor. Now before you ask, why doesn't my son work at Maverick if Maverick was so good. Because he started his trucking career when he was 21 and at that time you had to be 23 to work at Maverick. Since that time, Maverick has dropped it's age requirement to 21. So that's why I recommended Roehl to my son. They have a great training program and an excellent retirement program.
TMC the truth

Both companies are pretty good but Roehl is VERY PICKY on who they select for their drivers- both van and flatbed alike.
-
Yep and so is Maverick. And Maverick, only 1 out of every 100 ends up working there.
-
Roehl was the same way when I was going to school. Out of 25 students in my class they only picked 2.

I don't know much about them..but I can say they offer jack squat on loads they broker out.
They were the first company to make me laugh out loud at what they wanted to pay me.... -
And they probably were as serious as a heart attack with that chinsie offer you can bet..... LOL -
I did get what I wanted ONE time with them so far....lol......
I guess I was just a tad shocked because they should know flatbed rates if anyone does!White_Knuckle_Newbie Thanks this. -
