In regards to TMC and they way they run their drivers. They expect you to run your tail off for nothing. I worked for them from may until october of this year. Now I know that every trucking company out there isnt the best for every trucker out there. So I cant bash TMC. But I can say this, they are more worried about how clean that truck is compared to what kinda money the driver is making. I started at the bottom, 23%, and I made more money per week and load than at 28% which i was at when i quit. The explaination they gave me was the frieght was low. Thats a load of crap. TMC has started to cut throat to get dedicated accounts. Trust me i know, mainly the Lafarge drywall account in Palatka, Fl.
Another problem I had was that everything i had a problem with my dispatcher blammed on me and empty times. He never once looked at arrival times or detention times. Most times I would show up at consignee around 7 or 8 am and not get empty until around 9 or 10 in most cases. So explain to me how gettin there on time with 2 or 3 trucks in front of you is your fault. If you ask me it boils down to consignee. You are at there mercy. As drivers we all know that, yet to my dispatcher it was mine. My roommate was in the same boat before he quit.
I cant say tmc would not be right for the next person. It wasnt for me. I do however miss that black Pete. But I will settle for a Freightshaker and tanker to get paid for what I do. So until next time, have a blessed day and be safe out there. And for Godsakes, whatch the four wheelers. Cause God know that dont watch us.![]()

The new driver is often shocked by the reality of OTR trucking, which is why sites such as this are doing everyone a valuable service.
New drivers must remember that when you get a CDL license and drive OTR, your license and the hard work and money you put into obtaining that license will be constantly put in jeopardy out on the road.
There are thousands upon thousands of good drivers sitting at home right now who can't get a driving job because they thought that hard work and being loyal would be rewarded by some OTR company.
The driver must protect their license and driving record because the OTR companies for the most part will do many things to put both in jeopardy. -
I was just curious, looking at their company store prices. Do they provide shirts or uniforms? or is that up to the drivers to pay those outrageous prices?

Funny, Over the years I have noticed a change in personal, I used to deal with the drivers quite a bit at a place in mass, all were nice and quite laid back, but nowadays it seems to be the oppisite, like today I was at my consignee at 0530 and waited for instruction from the fork guy, he told me to untarp outside and he would open the door and I could back in when I was done and he was ready, I wss pulling my tarp and straps and at 0600 a TMC driver pulls in and backs right up to the door, hmm I was like ok whatever maybe he has a friend here, the door opened up and he backed in, then I was thinking wow he gets to un the load inside "nice" in a few minutes he was pulling back out, I asked the guy what happened and he said when he realized it was not me he told him to get out and wait his turn... I was almost mad, here I was in plain view pulling a huge tarp and this guy spanked me, or tried to,, Here is how I would have worked it, pull up see guy pulling go over help him and get him in the door while he is unloading pull my stuff and be ready when he is done, Yes I can back it up I do it all the time, so when he pulled out, what do you think happened, he sat and watched me, with another TMC, guy, if they had helped me, 1 they would have gotten quicker, and I would have helped them in return while I was being unloaded, no need for me to watch the fork guy,, Funny I use to see this happening allot but never anymore, I always try to help other flat guys, but I rarely get help, usually just to tell me something is wrong with my load, in their eyes, I look Young and actually am for the number of years I have, so allot of drivers think I am a rookie, till they see me doing something,, and ask how or why then we get into years and turns out I have 10 more,, But never any help or commaraderie any more..
only here on the board, what ashame. -
Was that you I saw at the TA north of San Antonio a week ago? I saw what seemed to be a VERY young TMC driver fueling up.
What you say is absolutely true. If you help the other skateboarders, it will make the unload for ALL go much faster. Just this morning in AZ, I helped the three drivers in front of me unstrap, roll straps, etc. Course, nobody helped ME. No biggie. -
I think that if everybody got there head out of you know where and thought alittle of his or her fellow driver trucking might get to be as
fun as the old timers say it used to be.
(BUT JUST REMBER SOMEONE WHO DOSEN'T HELP TODAY
WASN'T HELPED YESTURDAY)
keep an eye out for your fellow
truckers this holiday season they
need to get home too!!! -
now i have my metal coils endorsment only for new york state you need this endorsment so I AM ALLREADY TO DRIVE SAFTLY -
To all you drivers goin to TMC, good luck. Hope they have changed as a company. They sucked while I was there. As for the clothes the drivers wear, they pay for those. The company doesn't supply uniforms.
