These threads on TMC and Maverick on who is better is like a book that has no ending. I did the research on both companies before i started and i chose Maverick due to they had a driving school that cost me nothing, you only had to stay with the company for 6 months or there would be a fee. I live in the northern Ohio area and i was assigned to the Coverwagan Div. (35 cpm). I started out doing pretty good getting the milage and was home every weekend then milage started to drop alittle. I was allways on time and had a few fuel bonuses. When there is not milage , there is no money coming in and bills need to be paid. Im not going to bash on the company they have there good and bad like all other companies(thats life) but if you dont want to work hard then flattbeding isnt the job for you.(drive a van openand shut doors and get fat). I am now with TMC and did my 3 day orientation and i was impressed with the company. All im going to say is that on some of the questions ive seen on these threads towards TMC being a little military type company, everybody has there own opinion. You have to have a good attitude and show that your willing to work hard or if your just there wasting time and there time then that s your fault on how you get treated.(u wont last long). Ive been away from trucking for three months and never drove a 13 speed so they are putting me with a trainer for a week or two and get some driving time to get used to it. They got me a rental to go home for the weekend and to meet up with trainer then when thats done i go back and take driving test and get assigned a truck. They have treated me pretty good so far and i can expect there will be some things i dont agree with down the road but thats anywhere u go.

I live in the Raleigh, NC area and am considering both companies. Does anyone have any input on the lanes and local loads for either TMC or Maverick? Would either one have a greater expectation of home time based on this area? How about Maverick Specialized? Thanks, in advance, for any info!

I am with maverick and we run the CA's a lot. You should not have a problem getting home on the week ends.

Thanks for the reply, Notarps. I read on one of your posts I while back that you went with Maverick because they were a "good fit" for you. Would you mind elaborating on what it was that "fit" and caused you to go with Maverick? Was it: Rates? Miles? Training? Equipment? Location? Culture? ???

    Your welcome, sure no problem.
I was not looking to do a refresher. I did not have any recent OTR. I wanted a good co with a good reputation. I wanted nice equipment and to be home on weekends. I wanted a decent pay check and to be treated fairly by a co. Maverick has done all of the above for me.

Awww, it had to be an easy choice. Quality over, well I'm not sure. You made a great choice. I hope to see you out on the road some day.

I have drove for Maverick for about a year, they usually get rid of their drivers about then to avoid raises, Vacation pay, etc. We had some drivers come from TMC over to Maverick because they were not happy there either. They say that Management treats you like DIRT and You can't do anything right ( I heard this from numerous drivers that Quit TMC). Maverick is a decent company to work for if you don't want to stay over a year, Their safety dept. will come up with fraudulent reasons to get rid of you without any warning.
