KY is not a bad area, I've met plenty of drivers on the road from KY. For TMC KY is a solid spot with LaFarge up north Tamko everywhere, USG in IN, lots of places to pull from and get you through the house.

Well, I'm new to the board and this is my first post. I will be heading to Des Moines on June 15. I look forward to going as well as dreading it. I live in Southwest Virginia, about 1 hour away from Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, and West Virginia.

Sorry, I didn't finish my post.
Does anybody know if this is a good area to live in and work for TMC? And if this is a good area for getting home most weekends? I have a 4 year old son that I know that I am going to miss like crazy.

I don't know for sure but there is a Griffin Pipe plant in Western VA that we pull out of.

looks like you're not too far from Lynchburg, already mentioned. also Tamko in Frederick, MD and Lafarge in Silver Grove, KY should get you home. also we haul quite a bit of lumber out of NC.

My husband is bringing home about $460 every week with TMC, sometimes a bit less. He has had to go up around New York ALOT, I have wondered if it is because other drivers refuse to go, it sucks for him but he never refuses a load. Sure do wish his pay would pick up. For those of you with experience at TMC when times are good, what sort of pay can you expect to bring home?

i still run about $600 - $800 take home and that's after health insurance, etc. depends on whether i stay out over a weekend and run. used to run a little higher, but no doubt about tough times. my brother drives for a smaller outfit based in omaha and same story with him. i doubt there's much of anyone out there doing very well. i bump into drivers almost daily who are here because their local factory job, etc, gave them the pink slip. tell your hubby to hang in there and eventually things will pick up. if he starts job-hopping then he'll just most likely end up with the same results or maybe even worse. i talk to a lot guys on the cb, truckstops, customers, etc and usually they're asking me the same questions i'm asking them about pay which means we're all in the same boat right now.
