ok heres the deal. I have been at tmc long enough to get the scoop, thats for sure. It is an awesome company, thats for sure. So ill give you the scoop of my average week. Keep in mind the economy....ill give you last week. I left sunday night just like always. I left at noon to get to consignee with fresh hours mon. Unloaded and sat for about 10 hours waiting for a load. Finally got one that didnt pick up till tue morning. (figures. Eastern baltimore) bounced 280 mi to get load that paid 600 on 400mi. Decent. That put me at 1500 to the truck on a wed. Not decent. Good paycheck needs at least 2800 per week to the truck. Got to consignee around 11am. (weblog) tmc is 100% legal. It gets annoying but its good because you dont want to be a renagade trucker these days. Dot will kill you!! Then got one load a day from there on out the week like normal. It was a 4 load week and i got 2500 that week to the truck at 28% so you do the math. Not a bad week i guess. Not great though. Tmc is cleaning house right now. I guess thats good but its got a lot of people worried about jobs right now. I know i have stepped my game up a little. Idiling at 29% in the winter!! 7% out of route. Its not easy. Not by anymeans. They will not hesitate to fire someone for not meeting the standards. But i would never leave. If you are ready to work, its a great place. Just do youre job and be professional. Thats all they ask. See people want all this hometime and they dont realize its not up to you or tmc. Its freight. You cant be going 300mi loaded to go home and expect to work for a wealthy company. My only complaint ( and only ) is that i dont see why we go into areas that we know we cant get out of. And i with they would keep better track of who has had bad weeks and try to make up for it with better freight. But thats everyone who gets paid percentage. Just part of the game. It all averages out to be the same if not more than the cpm guys. Ive never met a cpm guy yet that makes more than me on average. They just have more steady checks. Overall i think that tmc is the best i have found out there and in return they want the best. Best equipment should get the best drivers. I am honestly proud to be pulling for tmc and i am glad they are getting rid of the slackers.

Yeah they werent bad. I made really good money last summer and then it just shot downhill...
Alot of guys i talked to blame the company, and i'd always reply the same way.. Dude, use you're head. Your sitting here for a day and a half.. The truck you have is probably running and you're blowing money out the stacks for every minute of that.. Don't you think that if they had a load they would give it to you? Seriously, people just need to calm down sometimes and look at the bigger picture.andrew5184 Thanks this. -
Hey guys i just signed up to the forum and i love it I'm getting my CDL in the next couple of weeks not going to school (can't afford it ) renting a Ryder tractor trailer and yes i do have "some" experience but not much well the reason why i post this here is because i really wanted to go with TMC badly. well i called them today and they said "the only way we can hire u is if u have 1 year verifiable FLATBED expierence or graduated out of a school with in the past month" and thats is "there new policy due to insurence" she said it was just passed thru last friday im 21 (they didnt know) and a very clean license so much for "NO FLATBED NO PROBLEM" So what do u think happend any input would be nice from the TMC guys

I don't know what that lady was talking about, but that was the policy when I came aboard in January. They have a list of schools they approve of and unless you have verifiable recent FB experience they only take students out of that pool of schools. It's an employers market right now, they have their pick of the labor pool.

TMC has had a policy that you must be 23 years old to drive there trucks. Another thing from what I can see in your profile you live in Mass. TMC closed there hiring area a some time ago due to the freight problems in the Northeast. Don't get me wrong they due hire people outside of the area but only in rare occasions.

I didn't tell her where i was from I have another home I can go in western PA where they're still hiring according to the website. Like I stated above I didn't tell her how old I was, the phone call was only 5 minutes long and as soon as I said I'm getting my cdl not thru a school and she said we cant hire u and that the policy was that. "U must have 1 year flatbed expierence or just graduated from a school with in a month". But i'll wait no big deal i just thought wow that blows so much for no flatbed no problem
