New company sounds good, but driver facing goats are an absolute non starter for me

Where does the orientation place? I see they have terminals all over in the Midwest, some of them kind of small. Since it's slip-seat, can you take your hometime and turn your truck in at any of their terminals or do they restrict it to certain terminals? The forced per-diem kind of sucks. Does anyone know if this is a huge drawback? I don't plan on getting any loans for anything.

Per diem boosts take home pay for company drivers. At my company, nearly 25% of my gross pay is tax exempt. Sure it means 25% less being contributed to social security, but with the way things have been going, I would rather get that money up front now rather than hope the government has it available for me when I hit 67 or whatever they raise the retirement age to.

I suppose it affects income for loans too but I haven't run into any issues maybe because I wasn't trying to borrow beyond my means. When I was buying my house I wanted a mortgage in the 150K range. Mortgage companies were clamoring to lend me 250K+. Can't see how per diem pay negatively affect my borrowing ability then.

I haven't been with them long enough to answer definitively. Orientation for me was laredo but they do it at other terminals as well. They paid $100 a day plus put you up in a private motel room and buy lunch.

You can swap trucks in other than your home terminal so i assume turn in as well, but it may depend on whether a truck is needed at that terminal or not.

Per diem does lower your gross pay tax wise and thus affects loan qualification. I personally think it's worth it.

Never had a problem getting a car loan while on per diem.
